Two positions are open at the CoE for outstanding candidates in digital engineering looking to transfer their engineering skills toward multi-disciplinary high-value projects and applications in life sciences.
Center of Excellence Mission
1. Promote Virtual Twins methodology in Life Science in partnership with DS while leveraging DS enabling technology (3DX, MEDIDATA, BIOVIA, CATIA, SIMULIA, ENOVIA) 2. Support research activities and agenda
3. Support certification and skill transfer for industry through Projject Based Learning (PBL) and the use of the 3DExperience platform
4. Support the creation of an innovative curriculum for the new digital engineering program
5. Support showcase of enabling technologies for the Workforce of the future to drive enrollment at LIU
6. Promote research and academic collaboration with domestic and international partners
Candidate's main responsibility
1. Execute research agenda on CoE flagship platforms and projects. We are looking for qualified candidates in one or more of the following areas: Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Cognitive and Computational sciences, Embedded Systems, Robotics, or related fields.
2. Publish a minimum of two peer review articles per year
3. Support faculty at the center of excellence in grant writing
4. Support other research activities
Candidate additional responsibilities
1. Support the CoE research activities
2. Support the CoE training and certification activities
3. Support teaching in the School of Engineering.
4. Develop/contribute course contents for the new digital engineering program
Required Profile
1. Understanding LIU/DS Life Science vision and strategy.
2. Knowledge and experience of DS software and platform for Life Sciences (3DX, CATIA, SIMULIA, BIOVIA, MEDIDATA, ENOVIA).
3. Understanding of current challenges and opportunities in the digital transformation of the life sciences industry.
4. Ph.D. in engineering field leveraging digital methods.
Additional Desired Qualifications
Preferred candidates will be those who have experience and/or demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, in one or more of the following areas in various application domains: machine learning, deep learning, cognitive and computational sciences, biomedical engineering, signal processing, electronics, embedded systems, robotics, and pharmaceutical sciences,.
