We're seeking a talented Senior DevEx Engineer to design the tools and strategies that will improve developer productivity, optimize workflows, and ultimately enhance our entire product experience.
- This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required . However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member.
- Dramatically reduce friction in the development workflow, accelerating delivery cycles and improving time-to-market.
- Deliver a seamless development environment with integrated tools, optimized processes, and clear guidance.
- Establish robust monitoring and feedback mechanisms to guide continuous optimization and identify bottlenecks.
- Cultivate a culture where developers feel supported, have efficient workflows, and influence the evolution of DevEx.
- Architect and maintain a robust internal developer platform tailored to company needs.
- Streamline development, testing, and deployment through automation and advanced tooling.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with development and platform teams to achieve shared goals.
- Identify optimization opportunities for CI/CD pipelines focusing on speed and reliability.
- Develop internal tools and frameworks to boost productivity and simplify common tasks.
- Track key DevEx metrics and analyze developer feedback to guide improvements.
- Create documentation, provide training, and share best practices to elevate DevEx across the organization.
- Champion the developer perspective, mentor others, and ensure solutions align with developer needs.

- Development: Develops solutions using standards and best practices of the applications language. Writes code that implements the design that is testable, extensible, efficient and maintainable.
- Impact Analysis: Understand the rationale behind and how changes impact the enterprise and/or applications and across the technical ecosystem.
- Solution Design: Ability to translate high level requirements to create and implement designs that meet the needs of the customer, are technically sound, maintainable and cost effective. Ability to identify missing or ambiguous requirements. Ability to design at both high and low levels of abstraction, understand complex requirements and translate into understandable solutions. Ability to accurately estimate based on requirements.
- Technical Domain: Have an understanding of the technical domain, including the application architecture, design and data of the application they support and systems to which it interfaces.
- Facilitation Techniques: Organize, support and/or conduct workshops, meetings, presentations specific to the objectives of each, problem to be solve, and needs of the audience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in DevEx or related field (such as software development or DevOps)
- Strong understanding of software development principles, programming languages, and development tools.
- Proficiency with Java
- Experience with version control systems like Git and understanding of branching strategies.
- Strong experience with CI/CD tools and principles such as GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, GCP (Google Cloud Platform)) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in using monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace).
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Creative and inquisitive mindset, with skills in independent research and in creating POCs.
- High empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence decisions while working across the entire engineering org.
- Strong focus on user experience, usability, scalability, and quality.
- Experience in improving developer workflows and processes.
- Software engineering experience
- Database versioning tools experience
- Experience working with cloud-based technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP, Digital Ocean, etc.)
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
- Possess a developer's testing mindset to better design tools/workflows that integrate testing frameworks.
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with automation technologies and scripting languages like Ansible, Powershell, Python, Groovy, Node, Go
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Industry Awareness: Stays ahead of DevEx and Platform Engineering trends through continuous research, rapid POCs, and analysis of tool/process impact on developer productivity and satisfaction.
- Assertiveness: be confident and respectful in conveying an idea or point of view. Be receptive to other's ideas or feedback.
- Have a love for technology. Experiment, be creative, and embrace a good challenge while negotiating multiple work streams at the same time.
- Bring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input, coach team members, and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day
- Ability to understand complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables.
- Possess excellent communication skills to interact with developers, understand their pain points, and effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions.
Targeted Total Compensation: $123,000 – $189,000. Total compensation is comprised of a competitive base salary and an annual variable compensation package
