Job Title: Controller
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Controller in the oil and gas sector to oversee our financial activities and ensure the organization's financial health. The Controller will be responsible for AP/AR/GL as well as managing financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes to support strategic decision-making for a holding corp and its subsidiaries. The position reports to the COO.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data
- Utilize financial software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Pak Energy (Wolfe Pak accounting) for financial analysis and reporting
- Manage corporate accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and governmental accounting standards
- Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Prepare financial statements and reports for senior management
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification preferred
- Proven experience working as a Controller or similar role in the energy sector
- Strong knowledge of financial software systems
- Must not struggle with technology
- Familiarity with GAAP and governmental accounting regulations
- Experience working with both private and public companies
- Experience with multi-company rollups (portfolio reporting) is a plus
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
- Experience communicating financial forecasts/results to clients, whether in person or remotely, is strongly preferred

The position is 90% remote. We have activities in California, Texas and Florida. Occasionally you will be asked to fly domestically to attend planning sessions and meet with clients. We are a fast moving company with interests in various verticals, but oil and gas experience is a must.
