Busy Neurology Practice looking for a full-time Infusion Nurse to work Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-2:30pm. Ideal candidate would be someone who is a quick learner, hard worker, ability to multitask, detail oriented and requires little supervision. Outgoing, friendly personality, and excellent communication skills are also a must.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assess and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow.
- Secure all necessary patient signatures; obtain proper informed consent and insurance authorization for in office procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician following safety protocol of right dose, right patient, right route, right drug and noting expiration date.
- Under physician direction, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Inventory and assess the need for supplies and equipment while keeping the infusion room stocked.
- Responsible for cleaning room and medical equipment in between each patient and at the end of the day.
- Demonstrates knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systems.
- Documents all elements of care.
- Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or mid-level provider.
- Serves as a resource person to the medical assistants.
- Triages patient/family phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
- Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Answer phone calls promptly.
- Return patient messages within a timely manner.
- Obtains authorization with insurance for all medication and procedures infused
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
- Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in Texas
- Current CPR certification required
- Recent intravenous administration and port management experience
- Experience with EMR
- Excellent assessment skills
- Good communication, organizational, and customer service skills
