Overview
The Project Manager guides and directs the planning and execution of either individual New Product Introduction projects, or New Product Introduction projects that report into a program. This role requires cross functional team management and ability to build the cross-functional project plan with focus on co-laboring with the team, to execute the project plan on time, to scope, and to budget.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages and updates project plans and scope, assuring scope is properly stated to provide project guidance.
Monitors scope throughout project for change with ability to drive proper risk/cost/benefit analysis to enable executive decision making.
Must manage and solve scope and risk issues.
Ensures team member accountability to execution of project deliverable commitments, which may include supervision of intra-team-member conflict and escalation to the program manager for resolution.
Properly identifies, manages, and reports costs.
Ensures that costs at the project level are properly planned and controlled.
Acquires stakeholder input and ensures proper stakeholder communications at the project level, escalating to the Program Manager as necessary.
Directs all project execution team meetings, whether regularly scheduled, or ad-hoc, as required by the planning and implementation methodology selected and is responsible for all outward communications, i.e. minutes, diagrams, off-team reports as required by the Program Manager, other.
Manages output reporting to the Program Manager, and to various stakeholders as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
1 – 3 years experience in a multi-disciplined, somewhat vertically integrated mechanical and manufacturing environment. Project management experience in that environment is a must.
Working knowledge of project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, PrimaVera, and familiarity with Wrike or Jira, as well as resource reporting tools.
Must be familiar with WBS / work de-composition methodologies.
Must understand and be able to manage critical path logic.
Ability to successfully work with cross-functional groups and multiple stakeholders along with experience taking a lead role on small projects or aspects of large scope projects.
Requires excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
Must be self-motivated, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage own time and resources effectively. This includes the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a science field preferred.
PMP certification with recent and growing experience in PM methods such as work breakdown structure, waterfall, agile, Kanban.
