A successful Head Trainer thrives in a small business, fast-paced environment, is adaptable to change, and effectively leads and influences other team members. The Head Trainer reports directly to the Master Trainer and is a critical piece of the Gym Management Team (GMT).
Burn Boot Camp St. Louis currently has 5 locations across Manchester, O'Fallon, MO, South County, Kirkwood and St. Charles, and we are hiring for our Kirkwood location at this time.
Responsibilities
The Head Trainer responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Member Experience
- Train agreed upon number of camps per month
- Develop and facilitate with team to create genuine relationships with every member to understand their goals and how to best motivate to reach results
- Lead and motivate members by delivering pre-designed and custom intense workouts following protocol
- Oversee team and execute focus meetings that align with Burn Boot Camp philosophy
- Ensure safety of clients through exercise technique
- Modify specific exercises to accommodate various fitness levels while working to reach the necessary RPE
- Execute on client outreach process using APE within the required response time
- Oversee member satisfaction, resolving any issues that cannot be resolved by the trainer
- Execute in gym challenges per HQ or STL design
- Attend and encourage attendance at hosted educational seminars
- Host and/or train private events to build community and educate members
- Work with Kidz Camp trainer to plan specialty camps
Client Growth Management
- Work with Client Experience Manager to reach target goals
- Utilize scorecard to understand the variances to plan, propose solutions and actions if falling short of goal, and execute to reach the gym goals and company objectives
- Own and train team on conversion KPI while supporting Client Experience Manager to reach attrition and non-renewal goals
- Build and sustain a highly engaged community
Gym Operation Management
- Utilize the EOS structure to conduct meetings and business
- Assess gym performance, identify opportunities and determine actions to resolve by utilizing the Blue Carpet Experience checklist
- Attend and actively participate in quarterly pulse meetings to build marketing and operation initiatives, lead the team and generate energy according to the Monthly Outline
- Actively participate in regular meetings such as Promotion, Gym Performance, Department and Team meetings
- Execute nutrition product education
- Utilize MindBody to modify camp or team schedules
Personnel Management
- Manage schedules for trainers and ensure all camps are covered; fill in if needed.
- In conjunction with HR Generalist; recruit, and onboard new team members utilizing the Trainer Progression Plan as necessary
- Deliver effective feedback for quality training using but not limited to:
- Blue Carpet Experience checklist
- Trainer checklist
- Focus meeting self-assessment
- Member feedback surveys
- Real Time Feedback
- Feedback Loop
- Handle disciplinary measures through resolution, as necessary (including verbal and written redirection and possible termination)
- Oversee training team time through HRIS system
- Manage training team certifications
- Conduct Annual Performance reviews, while utilizing checklists and feedback to hold team accountable
Social Media
- Support Social Media Specialist in content creation
- Determine and provide Social Media Specialist with Member of the Month highlight information
Professional Development
- Attend and participate at Burn University
- Attend and participate at Monthly Trainer Development Meetings
- Maintain current Personal Training & CPR/AED Certificates
- Opportunity to attend Regional Trainings, Annual Summit and other events as opportunity allows
- Attend, engage and lead portions of quarterly Burn STL family meetings
Requirements & Certifications
All head trainers must hold a current Personal Training certificate and successfully pass the Burn Boot Camp Strength & Conditioning Assessment. The Strength & Conditioning Assessment must be completed within 90 days of hire.
- Accepted CPTs include: AAPTE, ACE, ACSM, ACTION, CI, IFPA, ISSA, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT, NESTA, NETA, NFPT, NSCA, PTA, WITS. Some exceptions may apply
- CPR/AED certification
- Other employment documents (Confidentiality and Non-compete agreement)
Strength & Conditioning Assessment
Both men and women must complete the Strength & Conditioning Assessment under 15 minutes within the first 90 days of employment. All Trainers should be able to pass the SAC Assessment at any time (unless due to major illness or injury) and will be required to complete on an annual basis. The assessment can be performed in any order.
Women:
- 25 unbroken double unders
- 25 unbroken push ups
- 25 full burpees
- 75 jump squats
- 5 unbroken pull ups
- ½ mile run
Men:
- 25 unbroken double unders
- 50 unbroken push ups
- 50 full burpees
- 50 jump squats
- 15 unbroken pull ups
- ½ mile run

Hours
The Head Trainer position is full time. Hours will include some early morning, evening, weekends and holidays. This is a salary plus commission pay structure.
OTHER:
A Head or Lead Trainer is the Trainer responsible for overseeing the training portion of the Business. The Head/Lead Trainer must successfully complete the education program for Trainers to Headquarters' satisfaction. The Head/Lead Trainer will also provide continuing guidance, oversight, day-to-day management, and instruction. All Burn Boot Camp locations must operate with one Head/Lead Trainer at all times. The Head/Lead Trainer must enter a Confidentiality and Non-compete agreement with the Franchise Partner in a form satisfactory to us and substantially similar to the Non-compete and Confidentiality Agreement attached as the Schedule 8 to the Franchise Agreement. This Non-Compete and Confidentiality Agreement is between the Trainer and the employer may be subject to local law. It is the Franchise Partner’s responsibility to ensure enforcement of these documents and must be able to provide copies of these executed documents upon request from Headquarters. The Franchise Partner may act as the Head/Lead Trainer provided they meet all the qualifications and receive prior written consent from Headquarters.
