Summary
Estimators are the tip of the spear here at B&D and Quantity Surveyors are no different. Their primary focus is set on accurately calculating Cost-Value Reconciliation in our specialized construction areas, for continuous economic appraisal of our customer's projects. The position requires above-average attention to detail and a strong commitment to completing tasks on time. This position typically requires a faster-than-average pace. Detailed and specialized work is the major focus. The position will generally be task-oriented and requires someone with a conservative, careful, and cautious approach to work.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of takeoff quantity from construction drawing.
- Coordination of the review of draft tender documents to ensure all systems and components of the tenders are included.
- Knowledge in initial review of projects, condition of contract, contract documents, specification and design drawing.
- Preparation of tender documentation queries to constants/ clients to confirm and collect any missing data.
- Attend technical meetings and weekly progress meetings if required by the manager.
- Preparation of cost estimation for MEP works (electrical) and pricing, rate buildup of materials, labor, and other misc.
- Invite the Quotation from sub-contractor / supplier, negotiation and comparison, ability to prepare pre-contract and tender activity.
- Maintenance and update of approved subcontractor/ supplier database.
- Corresponding with consultants/ authorities regarding the specification/ technical and BOQ any difference to tender requirements and raising queries for clarification.
- Coordination with planning, procurement, finance, and administration cell for necessary documents required for the submission.
- Preparation of Bill of Quantity (BOQ) based on tender drawing and specification including all works.
- Perform risk/value management and cost control.
- Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance works.
- Prepare cost analysis on quotation to be submitted for bids.
- Prepare quantity takeoff and evaluate cost proposals.
- Physical demands include long hours sitting using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing.
- Job requires intermediate computer proficiency and advanced critical thinking skills.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma
- Associate degree
- Relevant work experience may substitute for the degree
- Electrical experience preferred
- Knowledge of working with MEP-based projects.
- Ability to recognize contractual obligations of both a company and its subcontractors.
- Experience in Autodesk design review, Bluebeam, Navisworks Freedom, and MS Office/ MS Teams is preferred.
- Able to review and measure the executed works.
- Knowledge in detailed shop drawing and coordination drawings.
- Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
