Underground Contractors, Inc. a fiber conduit construction company, is seeking experienced Splicing Foremen to be a part of our Lansing, Mi office. This position always has a focus on safety, can read and understand prints, as well as follow company policies and procedures related to safety. The ideal candidate will be proficient with coax and fiber optic cable, splicing, terminating, testing, and documentation. Splicing Foreman should have experience with leading aerial and underground crews, installing fiber, be fluent with OTDR test equipment, and able to work in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities/Duties
Ability to lead teams who have quality, production, and safety always in mind.
Ability to direct crews and keep everyone on schedule.
Read and interpret blueprints and splice diagrams.
Prep and dress multiple types of aerial and underground fiber optic enclosures.
Operate advanced tools and equipment including fusion splicers (single and ribbon), OTDRs, armored cable splitter.
Complete daily work orders along with as-builts
Knowledge of fiber optic transmission and owner transmission equipment * Testing of active fiber circuits over distances of 20 miles
Termination of fiber, pigtails, splice connectors, and unicam
Performing audits and ring cuts on new and existing fibers
Experience with PON systems including optical splitters.
Working knowledge of telecommunications industry, engineering work prints, ability to understand and interpret construction documents.
Experience working in both standard and high-risk areas, such as areas with live utilities, as well as knowledge of utility depths and placement.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Flexible and willing to work under pressure to meet assigned deadlines.
Valid CDLA w/air brake no restrictions required.

Must be comfortable working in tight spaces such as manholes, vaults, and lift buckets.
Must have experience working on construction sites.

Must be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and overtime, as needed.
Ensure on-site jobsite safety.
Able to meet physical requirements: climb ladders, work in confined spaces such as manholes, vaults and lift buckets and/or various heights, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., squat, kneel, bend, crawl and stand for long periods of time.
Required experience:
Prior experience being a crew foreman, or leading other construction-based teams.
Required license or certifications:
