Senior Project Manager
Do you have experience in alternative energy projects and have what it takes to manage "First To Industry" projects? Fiedler Group, a Pasadena, CA based Engineering & Design firm to Fortune 500 companies, is leading the industry in alternative fuels engineering and is seeking Senior Project Managers in California. The qualified candidate must be professional and have a strong technical background and actual working knowledge of compressors, pressure vessels, and gas dryers, with the ability to effectively present technical information to stakeholders. In addition, extensive experience in successfully executing hydrogen-based and/or electrical multi-project programs in an engineering consulting environment is required.
The Senior Project Manager is the primary client contact and responsible for both the financial success and delivery of programs and/or projects on schedule and within budget. The Senior Project Manager independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to project and/or program delivery. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overall project quality and technical performance which will require assigning tasks to and overseeing engineers, technicians, and administrative staff. This individual also prepares, reviews, and approves scopes, budgets, schedules, and contracts for consistency with Company policies, procedures, and objectives. The Senior Project Manager has extensive interaction with technical and non-technical staff, clients, officials, contractors, vendors, and others and is expected to attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for continued marketing and sales to clients that yield highly successful projects for clients and the Company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Management:
- Serve as the main client contact, providing timely communication and correspondence with the client, and seeking repeat client work.
Business Development:
- Responsible for the continued growth of the company by identifying and developing new clients and projects.
- Assists in or responsible for developing scope, schedule, and fee for new projects or programs and additional scope/services requested by clients.
Contract Management:
- Responsible for being the Subject Matter Expert on contracts and scope for designated programs or projects.
- Responsible for managing contractual performance and scope of outside consultants.
- Responsible for negotiating fees and preparing contracts on new or existing programs or projects and timely issuing Change Orders for work outside of scope.
- Ensure that Fiedler Group is always contractually compliant with both client and subconsultants.
- Negotiate fees and prepare contracts in conjunction with Department and Operations Managers.
Quality Assurance:
Responsible for working with team members to maximize profitability while maintaining a high level of quality.
- Accountable for deliverables being complete, accurate and compliant with customer’s standards and specifications.
- Responsible for verifying drawings have been checked and signed off by designated personnel.
- Responsible for approving all drawing packages, exhibits and documents assembled.
Project Turn Over & Scheduling:
- Responsible communicating regularly and effectively with the team on project activities and track project progress on completed work relative to agreed-on scope and deliverable goals for adherence to project schedule and
- Conducts design project turn over meetings with Fiedler Group team members and outside consultants.
- Oversees program responsibilities to ensure adherence to quality standards and project schedule.
Budgeting and Financial Controls:
- Responsible for management of cost and budget for each assigned project element and ensuring budgeted labor and expenses are not exceeded.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date project plans, projections and schedules in the Company’s management information system including project specifications, labor projections, and quality program planning.
- Responsible for preparing and submitting, prior to commencing work, accurate design services proposals and change order.
- Responsible for managing documentation, including, receipt of approvals for new service proposals, change order submittals, etc.
- Conducts timely review of site-specific project bill reviews and consultant invoicing, insuring prompt and accurate processing of all financial documentation.
- Addresses aging invoices and related collections as required.
Consultant Supervision:
- Manages outside consultants’ activities and deliverables as required to insure accurate, cost effective completion of all assigned tasks. Consultant activities include, but are not limited to, Site Investigation Reports, land surveys, traffic studies, Geotechnical studies, structural engineering services, landscape architect services, renderings, and permit processing.
Communication:
- Provides accurate and timely data input for your assigned projects.
- Ensures that all scheduled Project deliverables (status reports, meeting reports, site specific reports, preliminary plans, applications, drawings, bill reviews, etc.) are issued on schedule to all appropriate client and team members.
Project Management:
- Provides functional direction over areas of responsibility including project schedules, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control.
- Delivers consultative value to clients by providing technical advice, communicating with clients about project progress, including any challenges or changes required on the project understanding of project issues.
- Conducts project team meetings and make presentations to clients.
- Prepares project plans and manage project performance and oversees the work of staff on a project-by-project basis.
- Responsible for having expertise and applying all relevant client design standards and procedures.
- Providing cost estimates, proposals, schedules and timelines and related deliverables as requested by client.
Public Representation:
- Represents Fiedler Group and our clients by attending meetings with local municipalities as required.
- Is responsible for quality and timeliness of all related applications and exhibits, negotiations on behalf of our clients’ interests, and successful acquisition of all project permit approvals.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
As Project Manager, this position will be fully responsible for all contributing Fiedler Group personnel and consultant activities, as well as the accuracy, cost controls, budget, reporting, and timeliness of all assigned projects and related client management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages consulting associates who provide permitting, survey, geotechnical, structural, local design and landscape services. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these consultants. In addition to providing direct supervision of program team in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws up to and including interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
