POSITION SUMMARY
Excellent assessment and diagnostic abilities focusing on the reproductive health and prevention or treatment of diseases specific to women. Strong critical thinking skills, well-honed interpersonal communication skills, extensive educational background in women's health, compassion, empathy, and teamwork.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bilingual with fluency in Vietnamese or Spanish preferred.
2. Master’s degree in nursing with a specialization in women’s health.
3. At least one year of full-time experience as a women’s health nurse practitioner
preferred.
4. Possess prescriptive authority.
5. Certified by the State Board of Medical Examiners.
6. Board certified by, LSBNP or other certifying board required.
7. Proficiency in physical assessment required.
8. Ability to use various standard computer applications, including word processing
applications, required.
9. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
10. Ability to work in a culturally diverse, patient-centered, holistic atmosphere required.
11. Flexibility to work in multiple clinical settings strongly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. Patient Assessments
a. Provide health care services to health center patients or its affiliated healthcare facilities
b. Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations of patients, developing plans of care, and
initiating and managing therapeutic interventions independently or in consultation with
health center physicians as indicated
c. Order or perform screening and diagnostic tests as indicated while being able to
recognize abnormal findings and subsequently develop appropriate follow up plans
d. Provide appropriate patient education to patients or groups of patients as needed
e. Conduct periodic nurse case management as needed
f. Triage patients for acuity of illness in clinic and via telephone
g. Communicate clearly and concisely with co-workers all relevant information necessary
for quality patient care
h. Report all unusual conditions or patient reactions to the staff physician
i. Complete documentation of patient encounters in a timely manner
j. Taking comprehensive women’s health medical histories
k. Assess, diagnose, and treat disease risk factors which are specific to women
l. Educate patients on available forms of contraception
m. Prescribe contraception/medication
n. Evaluate physical and social environmental risks which could impact childbearing
o. Insert long-acting reversible contraception tools such as intrauterine devices or
implanted devices
p. Screen for substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and risky behaviors
q. Assess, diagnose, and treat sexually transmitted diseases
r. Order and interpreting diagnostic tests
s. Work alongside OBGYN physicians - assisting during invasive procedures
t. Address patient concerns of infertility
u. Educate and counsel patients about menopause
v. Assist patients through the perinatal period
w. Perform primary care procedures like pap smears
x. Monitor fetal activity
y. Collaborate with health care providers to effectively manage high-risk pregnancies
2. Quality Improvement Initiatives
a. Assist with the implementation of clinic-wide continuous quality, improvement
programs in collaboration with NOELA CHC physicians and other team members
b. Assist with the identification of community resources available to help clients and their
families and guidance to them for their use.
c. Contribute to the development of new and/or improved community resources and
patterns of health care deliver.
3. Additional tasks
a. Cross trains with other support staff to assist as needed as relating to patient care.
b. Exhibits a willingness to learn new tasks.
c. Asks questions before beginning an unfamiliar assignment.
d. Participate in continuing medical education programs

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
