POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Electrical Engineer oversees the design, installation, and testing of electrical equipment, components, or systems to support business initiatives. They collect and analyze pertinent data and then provide comprehensive documentation where applicable. The Senior Electrical Engineer will either manage entire projects or will work on sub-tasks for projects of moderate complexity from concept to completion.
This full-time position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and is based out of our Becker, MN manufacturing facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages and coordinates electrical system design, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities ensuring compliance and specifications, codes, and mill requirements.
- Evaluate electrical systems reliability, performance, and safety. Performs root cause failure analysis on electrical equipment failures.
- Work with project managers on planning, development, and execution of electrical capital projects.
- Develops budgets, estimates labor, material, and construction costs for projects.
- Prepares specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- Consults with other engineers, vendors, customers, other employees, contractors to discuss existing and potential engineering projects and/or assigned tasks.
- Provide technical support and direction to engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
- Drive safety and compliance excellence through effective work execution, personally modeling safe behaviors.
- Manage outside engineering and electrical contractor resources as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
- 4+ Years experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
- 5+ Years of electrical engineering experience
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Paper Mill experience highly desired
- Power distribution experience on low and medium voltage systems 120V – 4160V.
- Utility power systems knowledge including 13.8kV.
- Knowledge of the NEC and NFPA codes, standards, and laws that govern electrical power systems
- AutoCAD and power modeling software proficiency
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with very strong attention to detail/commitment to accuracy
- Project management skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work with all levels within the organization; professionally represents self, and LPI to external contacts.
- Strong and comprehensive computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office suite.
- Collaborative team player who maintains a positive attitude
- State of MN: Certificate of Supervisor of Electrical Maintenance Work
