Bookkeeper, Kenai Defense
Kenai Defense is a U.S. defense contractor based in Woods Cross, Utah. We partner with the Air Force, Army, and other agencies to develop innovative technologies that support warfighters and military installations worldwide. As a defense contractor, we collaborate with academia and industry to develop, test, and provide technologies for government customers. These technologies are designed to save lives, increase U.S. defense capabilities, and give soldiers a competitive edge in extreme environmental and combat conditions.
We are seeking a talented individual to work as a bookkeeper/administrative assistant for our company. This individual will support the bookeeping functions of our business and general office management duties. The bookkeeper position will have the following:
Responsibilities
- Document financial transactions by entering account information
- Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports utilizing QuickBooks Pro
- Maintain company financial records in QuickBooks Pro
- Oversee the bookkeeping, payroll, and purchase order functions for the company
- Maintain financial security by following internal controls
- Help develop budgets for new projects, proposals, and government contracts
- Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new regulations and advising management on needed actions
- Perform general bookkeeping duties
- Perform general office management duties
- Perform human resources tasks for the company
Work Hours, Benefits, and Salary
This position is a full-time salaried position. Salary range is between $40,000 and $75,000 per year, depending on experience and education. Kenai Defense offers health and retirement benefits.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Accounting background and knowledge
- Knowledge of government contracting and controls preferred
- Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) knowledge preferred
- Payroll and bookkeeping
- General office management skills
- Strong organization skills
- Strong quantitative skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Pro
Education and Experience
- 2 year degree in accounting or bookkeeping (bachelor's degree preferred)
- Experience with government contracting preferred
