Jawonio is seeking an organized and efficient special educator who is knowledgeable of NYSED special education regulations for a .6 position as an IEP Coordinator.
As the IEP Coordinator you perform a variety of management and leadership functions pertaining to the evaluation/IEP process. You will coordinate the evaluation process, from initial evaluations through to Annual Reviews. You will also coordinate the transition of students from Early Intervention to CPSE. You will review Individualized Education Programs (IEP) received from the districts, requesting corrections or adjustments as may be necessary. You will also work with district chairpersons for the Committee on Preschool Special Education to discuss various issues and solutions during the school year. The IEP Coordinator will participate in the preparation of annual reviews of the educational program, coordinating the information provided by all teachers and therapists.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General Responsibilities:
· Coordinates the CPSE team of this Agency which provides initial evaluation services for preschool aged children (3yrs. – 5yrs.) and the transition of students from the Early Intervention Program to CPSE. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling of the evaluations, obtaining reports from the evaluators, conducting the classroom observation for initial evaluations, writing the evaluation summary, reviewing the evaluations with parents prior to the meeting when the evaluators are unable to do so, and entering all information into the Individualized Education Program on IEP Direct.
· Coordinates and is responsible for dissemination of materials to the CPSE and attends the CPSE for each initial referral.
· Dissemination of results of CPSE meetings to applicable staff through a Disposition Form. Provide hard copy of the IEP to the teacher and department coordinator(s) as applicable.
· Trains all teachers and therapists in IEP Direct software system, use of SED IEP template and any other district-specific forms for the purpose of annual reviews or initial CPSE evaluations. Assists Program Director in training staff on how to present material at CPSE meetings.
· Reviews Individualized Education Programs received from the districts, requesting clarifications or corrections, as necessary.
· Works with district chairpersons of the Committee on Preschool Special Education to discuss various issues, experiences, and viable solutions at various times during the school year.
· Participates in the preparation of annual reviews of the educational program; scheduling the reviews, coordinating the information provided by all teachers and therapists. Coordinates other pertinent information for inclusion with packets to be forwarded to various school districts as involved.
· Assists Program Director with developing class lists and placement of students in appropriate classrooms as per their IEP and district requests.
· Maintains safe, orderly working area and work practices.
- Assists Program Director with other supervisory and leadership functions including orientation, training, coaching, and other employee relations activities, as needed.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Master's Degree in Special Education with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience. Certification by NYS as a Teacher of Special Education. Experience in supervision and administration preferred. NYSED administrative certification (SAS/SDA/SBL/SDL) preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Remain current in all required trainings.
- Must complete 30 hours of OCFS training every 2 years, with 15 hours within first 6 months of employment.
