Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc. is an Architectural and Engineering firm with offices in Livingston, New Jersey. Our firm has an opening in our MEP department for a plumbing & fire protection project engineer. We will accept resumes from experienced engineers, EIT’s, and Professional Engineers with experience and skills in commercial building design.
Experience Requirements
- Bachelor of Science from an accredited school of engineering
- P.E. License is preferred but not required for this position and Jarmel Kizel can aid you in obtaining one if sought
- 5 – 7 years of experience in similar role
- Advance knowledge of plumbing and fire protection design related to commercial, industrial, multifamily, and retail buildings
- Experience with sizing incoming plumbing utilities such as sanitary, domestic water, fire protection, and natural gas
- Understanding of local adopted plumbing codes to compute fixture unit calculations to size plumbing piping
- Knowledge of NFPA codes to create basis of design plans showing sprinkler head spacing in accordance with different hazardous classifications
- Understanding of sizing natural gas piping in accordance with fuel gas codes, including low- and high-pressure piping systems
- Experience in creating plumbing construction documents showing all pipe routing, pipe sizes, and plumbing fixtures in addition to creating riser diagrams
- Ability to develop design solutions and oversee the preparation of the construction documents for implementation
- Required to be experienced in using software such as AutoCAD MEP and basic Microsoft Office
- Experience with Revit is not required, but is highly preferred
- Candidates should have experience with client management, coordination with other disciplines, and reviewing construction administration documents including shop drawings and Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Competent knowledge of local Building Codes, National Standard Plumbing Code, International Plumbing Code, NFPA 13 and Energy Conservation Code
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Good writing and oral communication skills
