WHO YOU CAN BECOME: The Residential Maintenance Worker will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and smooth operation of the campus and property, performing a variety of tasks related to maintenance, repair, and general upkeep. They directly provide the labor force for all the building and ground repairs, maintenance and renovations as identified.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify maintenance issues and safety hazards.
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, drywall, masonry work, plumbing repairs, and electrical repairs as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from the Director of Maintenance and Facilities.
- Troubleshoot and repair appliances, HVAC systems, and other residential equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance storage areas and equipment.
- Assist with landscaping and groundskeeping duties as required.
- Always ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and expenses.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or maintenance tasks when necessary.
- Participate in emergency on-call rotations for after-hours maintenance emergencies.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year’s proven experience in building maintenance.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry, drywall, painting, groundskeeping, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
- Able to be flexible with hours depending on weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license.
WHO ARE YOU:
- Proficient in using various tools and equipment relevant to the maintenance tasks, such as hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, etc.
- Exhibit an understanding of how machinery and systems work, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
- Able to troubleshoot and diagnose issues efficiently, and to develop effective solutions to repair or maintain equipment and facilities.
- Thorough and meticulous in performing maintenance tasks to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality standards are met.
- Capable of p;hysical labor, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines, especially in environments where maintenance needs are ongoing and urgent.
- Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and sometimes with external contractors or vendors.
- Possess a knowledge of safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Adaptable to changing priorities, work schedules, and unexpected maintenance issues that may arise.
