Position Summary
The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for maintaining clinical operations and safe delivery of patient care in all clinical areas in the department. Safe, efficient and financially responsible measures should be maintained to assure patient care in accordance with best practice. The Clinical Nurse Manager is the senior clinical person responsible for maintaining these standards in the clinical setting.

- Evaluates all aspects of the patient care delivery system, makes recommendations, and in collaboration with the physicians to optimize operations.
- Monitors patient appointments, patient flow and patient records.
- Continually evaluates clinical flow and provides guidance and direction to facilitate patient care in an optimal timeline.
- Supervises and is responsible for all staff for appropriate delivery of care, medical and procedural skills and appropriate documentation in the EHR as per the DC RN Nursing Act.
- Coaches and teaches staff in using correct medical technique per best practice and documents deviations/inappropriate technique and patient care delivery. Collaborates with supervisory staff to document inappropriate staff behavior/inadequate skills within the disciplinary process.
- Monitors supply function to include securing, managing, tracking and ordering of medications, vaccinations and all medical supplies to be in compliance with correct oversight, appropriate levels for operations while tracking cost.
- Responsible for overseeing and tracking all clinically-related patient complaints, serving as both an MFA representative and patient advocate to ensure each complaint or concern is addressed and resolved in a timely manner. Escalates to Clinic Manager if needed.
- Analyzes systems and procedures, recommending changes that enhance the quality of patient care and increases operational efficiency.
- Anticipates problems and obstacles in clinic settings and applies appropriate problem solving skills to prevent or reduce delay in patient care to reduce and improve overall wait times in the clinic.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of a new staff on the job training/orientation program for medical assistants, LPNs, RNs and supervisors.
- Develops and oversees continuing education program and implements appropriate educational tools for Medical Assistants and other staff.
- Facilitates provider care by ensuring staff assistance as needed.
- Available to respond to any clinical patient emergency and directs staff as needed to call 911, implement emergency medical intervention, follow physician orders, and maintain patient safety.
- Available to provide clinical coverage as needed.
- Ability to assist the physicians with procedures, administer injections, triage and other medical/nursing duties as needed.
- Available for the triage process and may assist in triaging patients that arrive without appointments to direct them to the appropriate level of care as needed.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills with staff, patients, providers and supervisors, uses a positive team approach in communication.
- Acts as a role model for professional behavior and customer service excellence. Understands the value of teamwork and the importance of team development.
- Acts as a resource to all clinical and administrative staff regarding patient care issues.
- Responsible for addressing all Compliance 360 reports, safety issues and infection control measures for the clinic. Implements all corrective actions promptly and provide retraining and education of staff and physicians as needed.
- Works collaboratively with staff and others across service lines.
- Evaluates staff effectiveness in providing patient care in a manner that adheres to MFA policies, Infection Control Guidelines, HIPPA, and OSHA guidelines
- Ensures and promotes compliance with all departmental and MFA policies including but not limited to the following:
- Standards regarding training, professional development, communication and management of workload.
- CLIA requirements.
- HIPAA requirements.
- OSHA/safety and emergency policies and procedures.
- Works closely with departmental leadership to meet patient volume and financial goals. Communicates departmental initiatives, changes, and new service lines to staff and ensures staff adherence to direction and workflows to support these initiatives.
- Promotes MFA values such as iCARE for staff and develops/implements educational and team-building exercises to maintain a patient-focused, physician-led clinical practice and delivery of care.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education
- BSN and a current DC Registered Nurse licensure are required.
- If not currently licensed in DC, a license must be obtained within 30 days.
- ADN will comparable management experience will be considered.
Experience
- 3+ years of nursing experience in an Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, or Primary Care outpatient care setting.
- Experience in using an Electronic Health Record and Practice Management System is required.
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
