Job Summary: The Front of House Cafe Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cafe, ensuring excellent customer service, managing staff, and maintaining the overall quality and efficiency of the front-of-house operations. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, an understanding of numbers and ordering, the ability to manage budgets, and exceptional attention to detail in inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service:
- Ensure that all customers receive exceptional service.
- Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements.
- Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise front-of-house staff.
- Schedule staff shifts and manage labor costs.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee daily cafe operations to ensure efficiency.
- Monitor and manage inventory, placing orders as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front-of-house area.
- Financial Management:
- Assist in managing budgets and controlling costs.
- Monitor sales and revenue, implementing strategies to increase profitability.
- Handle cash and credit transactions, ensuring accuracy and security.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with the back-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
- Communicate effectively with staff, management, and suppliers.
- Plan and execute special events and promotions.
- Product Quality:
- Ensure the quality and presentation of food and beverages meet cafe standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends and introduce new menu items as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a cafe manager or similar role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in managing budgets and financial transactions.
- Ability to manage inventory and place orders efficiently.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the hospitality or food service industry.
- Knowledge of coffee and beverage preparation.
- Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
