Description:Solutionreach is hiring a Principal Quality Engineer. This role is a 100% remote with monthly
traveling requirement to our corporate headquarters located in Lehi, Utah.
Most importantly for this role, you will be expected to think outside the box; test not only the
“happy path” of new features and functionality but test the “What if?” conditions as well. We
want to make sure our software is robust enough to handle the unexpected. As we continue to
expand the system, it’s understood that a lot of things might be overlooked each week, so it is
important to work towards creating automated tests that can duplicate the manual testing
done on new features. Continually adding new test cases is a huge benefit to the company. You
should also work well with others and understand how to read code, including Java, HTML, &
Vue (JavaScript) and have a basic understanding of web frameworks and applications.
Requirements:What will I need to thrive in this role?
- Drive the software quality assurance lifecycle.
- Establishing and coordinating test strategies.
- Managing and mentoring QA team members, at least 2 years experience managing a QA team with onshore / offshore members.
- Each day of the week is spent working on the progression of the next release and ensuring that the work that the developers do meets our expectations for quality and acceptance.
- Releases are deployed to production each Thursday evening at around 10PM MST, you will be expected to be in attendance virtually for these releases to vet the deployment each week.
- Fridays through the following Thursdays are primarily working to test (manual and automated) completed tickets that have been merged to the master branch of our system.
- Testing includes working with mobile devices, web, and command line systems to ensure correctness of the system and its parts.
- Occasional hot-fixes and emergency tests are required if a bug is found in our production environment that affects our customer base.
- Work with our Tech support team to validate bugs found by them or our customers.
- Attend daily stand-up meetings with the development team to ensure close working relationships with them and to understand the testing load that is upcoming.
What does high performance look like in this role?
High performance PQE’s are continually adding value to the team, helping the development team become more efficient and more
accurate. Adding tests to our test suite and ensuring that we find and maintain processes that facilitate correctness in our platform is key to this role. Bringing innovative ideas and processes in effort toward the pursuit of more efficient release cycles is always a benefit to the company. PQE’s who exhibit a pattern of behavior of a growth mindset and continue to learn from peers
along with great team camaraderie will always be in high regard here at Solutionreach.
What is my potential for career growth?
It depends on your aspirations and desires. We’ve had some QST’s transition to Software
Developers, QE Team leads and more! We are a company who values internal candidates and
wants to see you grow with us, so as you have monthly one-on-one meetings with your
manager, talk about what your goals are, and we’ll see how we can help you get there.
What is the team like? The QA/QE team is small but provides huge benefits to the Engineering
department. Overall, there are 8 QE people who work on this product, and about 25 developers
that you’ll be working closely with. Our team is founded on humility and teamwork, and we
make sure that there is no such thing as a dumb question. We know that we all have different
backgrounds and expertise, so when you need to tap into someone else’s pool of knowledge,
know that there’s not going to be an ego when you ask for help.
Sounds great. What’s the catch?
Solutionreach is not for everyone. Here's why:
- Fast Evolution: Solutionreach evolves quickly and constantly to succeed as a business. This means sometimes you must switch gears halfway through a project, solve problems with minimal information, and roll with the punches.
- Big Goals: We have a mission to transform healthcare, and you impact that directly. We demand high execution and strong results. You will want to work smart and do what it takes to get things done.
- Non-stop Learning: We care about personal development and have a culture of feedback, so your manager or team may have to tell you things that are difficult to hear and vice versa.
- Differences: The last thing we want is to hire people who are just like us. This means you will work with others that you may not immediately click with or sometimes disagree with. That's not a bad thing. Be curious and compassionate. Be willing to change your mind. That's belonging in its true form: celebrating and finding genuine value in our differences.
