Prism Specialties is a disaster relief company that specializes in artwork repair and cleaning. We work directly with policyholders, insurance adjusters, and contractors in all industries to recover and return artwork and collectibles to their pre-loss condition. Art Specialists work as an active, hands-on team, solving creative challenges while highlighting their own unique artistic abilities. Each week is different as we encounter a variety of mediums and tackle new projects. Art Specialists understand the importance of careful and deliberate handling of damaged art pieces throughout the artwork cleaning and repair process. The experienced restorers at Prism Specialties address issues such as discoloration, stains, rips, sculpture repair, digital restoration, and more.
Prism Specialties Metro NJ/NY is hiring an entry level Art Restoration Specialist. We specialize in disaster relief art restoration, and primarily work with collections that have been affected by events such as fire, flood, debris, ect. Restoration training will be provided. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual with a passion for learning and problem solving. The art restorer role requires a team player who is adaptable and doesn’t mind a dirty job. Prism works with a variety of art subjects, ranging from sculptures, prints, paintings, taxidermy, and textiles, and a wide knowledge of different art mediums is encouraged. Framing experience and photoshop skills are a plus.
A Day in the Life of an Art Restoration Specialist:
- Inventory, document, and evaluate artwork for cleaning and restoration
- Remove, protect, and transport damaged artwork from insured home or busines
- Disassemble and evaluate artwork to be cleaned, restored, and/or repaired
- Clean, restore, and reassemble artwork to pre-loss condition
- Deliver restored artwork back to insured’s home or business
What We are Looking for in You:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with knowledge and experience with various arts mediums
- Excellent customer service skills; provide "white glove" service for our clients
- Comfortable working on-site in post-peril (fire, floods, etc.) environments. Dirty jobs!
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds during artwork pick-up and delivery activities
- Solid multi-tasking ability, prioritizing skills, and attention to detail
- Working knowledge of desktop computer applications; Photoshop experience a plus
- A positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and ability to work with a team

- Consistently report to work during scheduled times
- Document all job activity using the applicable systems in place
- Ensure your work achieves quality standards and meets/exceeds customer expectations
- Use and maintain all provided materials, supplies, and equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended procedures
