Pay: $150,000/year or $190,000/year

We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Director of Engineering, Permitting and Environmental Compliance to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 675 Los Esteros Rd, San Jose CA and limited job-related travel may be required.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for all engineering, planning, permitting, permit maintenance, surveying, construction, regulatory reporting, environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance for all company operating facilities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Ability to draft and generate memos, letters, technical reports, and proposals.

Ability to work in a team setting and work well with others including team members, supervisors, management, and executive team members.

Ability to work with operations management and personnel as necessary to obtain/maintain operating permits, and implement necessary site changes, modifications, improvements, etc.

Provide direct supervision to all engineering assistants and environmental compliance technicians.

Ability to find and obtain competent outside contractors/consultants, and to productively work with them to meet budget and schedule expectations.

Ability to work productively with all regulators.

Research, evaluate and develop ideas to help troubleshoot and accomplish company goals.

Review and check completed projects for accuracy and provide project/construction/document certification as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be familiar with local, state, and federal permitting processes.

Able to organize and coordinate information and various services.

Able to handle odors and dust associated with waste handling and trucking activities.

Capable of working productively with current management team and site technical consultants.

Must have excellent people skills and be able to effectively lead entire EPEC team.

Must have excellent computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, and to perform internet searches.

Able to perform applicable engineering calculations and provide basic engineering design drawings.

Must be familiar with AutoCAD and 3D Civil Soft computer design software.

Able to manage on-site construction projects as necessary to meet construction quality assurance (CQA) and control (CQC) requirements.

Able to perform basic site ground and aerial surveys needed for operations and coordinate with professional surveyors as necessary.

Must have strong technical writing skills.
Qualifications:
-
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a Bachelor of Science in engineering degree (preferably civil) from an accredited university is required.

Processional civil engineer (PE) in the State of California is required (or must be actively seeking to obtain).

Any technical certification(s) or advance training are considered beneficial.

Class A Engineering Contractor's License in the State of California is not required but preferred.

Current and valid driver’s license (Class C)
Language Skill:

Proficient in English (both verbally and in writing) is required.

Familiarity with Spanish is considered highly favorable.
Physical Demands:

Ability to physically push, pull and lift to 25-30 lbs.

Ability to sit or stand at a desk in an office environment for 6-10 hours a day.

Travel up to 50% of the time throughout different facilities in California.
Work Environment:
Typical work week is Monday through Friday. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time, service city/town and routes based on the operational needs for the day and or week.
