The Manager of the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies serves as a member of the leadership team and manages the administrative and financial operations for the Center, developing and establishing administrative procedures that align with established University Guidelines while ensuring that they support the Center's mission.
Salary & Compensation

Qualifications

5 - 7 years Direct experience as manager/administrator of a research/academic unit in which responsibilities included personnel management and fiscal planning across multiple funding sources. (Preferred)
- 5 - 7 years Direct experience with financial planning, control and administration of a multi-million dollar budget, and working with human resources policies and procedures. (Preferred)
- 5 - 7 years Experience with the following systems: the UCLA Campus Financial System, QDB, CDW, CBIG, BruinBuy Plus, UCPath, Tracker I9, Concur, UC Recruit, and HRITSO programs. (Preferred)
- 5 - 7 years Experience establishing and monitoring long-range schedules for complex projects and coordinating their production to meet fixed deadlines. (Preferred)
- Skill in financial planning, budget preparation, fiscal monitoring, working with policies and procedures in the areas of human resource management, contract and grant management, purchasing and equipment management, budgeting and accounting in a higher education setting. (Required)

Advanced knowledge of Human Resources and payroll policies and procedures. (Required)

Decision-making and prioritization skills to effectively allocate space, funding, equipment, and other resources. Ability to independently exercise appropriate judgment consistent with policy/procedure, set priorities, and execute decisions. (Required)

Skill in writing a variety of materials, including correspondence, procedural manuals, directions, job descriptions, and other materials in order to explain policies and procedures. Ability to prepare financial analysis and reports, etc. in the professional style appropriate for top professionals an (Required)

Demonstrated organizational skills to work effectively within a complex and rapidly changing organization to simultaneously manage a wide range of active projects and responsibilities to perform a variety of duties with frequently changing priorities and deadlines. (Required)

Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills to direct administrative and professional staff including organizing work flow to accomplish established objectives, delegating responsibility, interviewing and selecting for vacant positions, providing training, preferably in a university setting. (Required)

Interpersonal skills to develop cordial and cooperative working relationships with University administrators and staff. Oral communications skills to serve as consultant and liaison to convey a variety of information concisely and accurately. (Required)

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy. (Required)

Working knowledge of University staff and academic personnel, payroll, budgetary policies and procedures, and UCPath (Preferred)

Ability to use a PC utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software programs. (Required)
