Position Responsibilities Summary:
The Dining Services Assistant (positions including kitchen and wait staff) provides assistance with all kitchen and dietary functions and is responsible for meal preparation, meal service and a successful and safe dining experience, as evidenced by exemplary resident satisfaction surveys on dining and deficiency-free Department of Health reports.
The Dining Staff ensures kitchen and dining area safety and sanitation; adheres to residents’ diet orders and preferences; establishes/maintains positive communication and builds relationships with the residents and community; develops and maintains good rapport and positive working relationship with dining staff; properly prepares (wash, chop, cook, store, etc.) certain foods or dishes in a timely manner; is knowledgeable of the current menu and ingredients; ensures clean and proper supply of dishes, cookware and utensils; cleans and maintains cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, equipment and appliances; properly monitors, inventories and stores food and kitchen items, etc.
DINING SERVICES
§ Provide assistance with all kitchen and dietary functions
§ Responsible for meal preparation, meal service and a successful and safe dining experience
§ Adhere to residents’ diet orders and preferences
§ Knowledgeable of the current menu and ingredients
§ Proper preparation (wash, chop, cook, store, etc.) of certain foods or dishes in a timely manner
§ Ensure dining area safety and sanitation
§ Maintain kitchen, food, cook ware, appliances and kitchen equipment in a safe and sanitary manner
§ Properly monitor, inventory and store food and all kitchen items
Education/Certification Requirements:
§ Certification or degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related field is a plus
Skills/Qualifications Requirements:
§ One (1)+ year of experience in a similar role, preferably from within a Long Term Care, Assisted Living and/or Memory Care community
§ Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills (English)
§ Flexibility: the dining staff will be required to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the community and the dining services department. Work hours shall remain flexible to meet the needs of the community, its residents, staff and operations. Position may require working weekend and evening hours and/or on-call status.
§ PC/internet proficiency (for menu planning and ordering purposes)
§ Food Safety Certification

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
