Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Systems Administrator II
· Manage virtual and physical Windows servers
· Manage Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and server and workstation patching
· Implement and support client local backups, replication and restore from backup as needed
· Maintain the integrity of server infrastructure by implementing industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
· Technical implementation and support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
· Remote access solution implementation and support: VPN and Terminal Services
· Develop and maintain documentation about current environment setup, standard operating procedures, and best practices
· Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices
· Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and correct hardware and software issues on servers and workstations
· Practice server asset management, including maintenance of server component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
· Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware upgrades, patches, and reconfigurations
· Works with Service Manager to develop client and sales goals
· Develop required reports in response to business user and management needs
· Manage vendors and contractors to secure software products and services
· Manage the physical environment of the server racks including cable management, documentation, and labeling
· Have extensive knowledge of NAS and SAN storage management
· Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs
· Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
· Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
· Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve, and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner
· Knowledge of virtualization technologies and concepts. Hyper-V and VMWare ESXi
· MS Office (0365) deployment, migration, operation, and maintenance
· Storage provisioning, management, and backup; ability to assess storage needs and provide solutions
· Ability to speak to customers in clear terms about new products, different options, and answer any questions regarding those products and options
· Works with clients to determine business requirements and whether products being considered are suitable for their IT needsthis seems like it’s covered in the item above Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
· Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives
· Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers
· Manage technical teams to maintain clients at the highest level and execute projects with accuracy and efficiency

Work Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring approximately, e.g., 40 hours per week. You will be working five days per week, eight hours per day. These shifts can be 8 am-5 pm, from Monday to Friday.

Health Insurance
As all Company employees, you will be eligible for the health insurance plans we offer. Specific terms and conditions may change upon the vendor’s decision.
The intent of the medical benefit is to offer medical insurance to employees who choose it and/or who are otherwise not covered by other family members' insurance. Employees and their families can be covered under Obsidian I.T.s group policy. No contract of insurance or other benefit provided by the company shall constitute a contract of employment nor alter its policy of employment-at-will.
Obsidian I.T. will pay up to $500 towards all full-time and hybrid employees premiums when they enroll in the Companies offered group health insurance policy. Employees may add significant others, who fall into the insurance’s classification of a domestic partner, however, the employee is responsible for the full premium of their partner as well as any dependents.
Medical Benefits are subject to change each summer, per changes from the benefits provider.
Medical Insurance: Blue Shield
Health Insurance Opt-Out Arrangement
A health insurance opt-out arrangement is a financial incentive an employer can offer employees to decline group health coverage. Such agreements are used by employers to reduce benefit costs by paying less for the incentive than they would for their share of the benefit premium.
Unconditional - Employee declines employer group health plan coverage, and the employee does not have to provide any evidence of or attest to having other group health coverage.
Obsidian I.T. offers all employees an unconditional opt-out arrangement through a medical flexible spending arrangement.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
1. Opt-out payments - are taxable income unless offered through a Cafeteria Plan. They should not be provided to enable an employee to purchase an individual policy, whether in or outside the Marketplace. A Shareholder of S Corp owning more than two percent cannot participate in a Cafeteria Plan. An opt-out payment would be paid as a bonus and taxable. Health insurance premiums for shareholders owning more than two percent are included in their wages for tax purposes. However, there is a personal tax deduction for health insurance premiums paid.
2. HIPAA Nondiscrimination Rules – Opt-out payments should be offered to all employees who are eligible for the group health plan, not to specific employees based on their (or their dependent's) health status or prior claims.
3. ACA Affordability - Small employers are not subject to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) affordability requirements; however, the affordability calculation may affect whether an employee (at a large or small employer) is eligible for a subsidy to buy coverage in the Marketplace. For 2021 ACA considers insurance as affordable if the lowest-cost, self-only coverage options an employer offer do not exceed 9.83 percent of an employee's household income.
Example: The total cost for self-only coverage is $556 per month, of which the employer pays $500, and the employee pays $56. The employee cost for self-only coverage will be $56 per month, which is less than the FPL safe harbor of $105.51 per month for 2021—making them ineligible for subsidies thru the Marketplace.
If the opt-out payment is over the FPL safe harbor, the employee cannot take the opt-out payment and purchase insurance with a subsidy on the Marketplace.
4. Unconditional opt-out - it is recommended the payment be less than the employer contribution to the health plan. This way, the employer has less chance of being seen as encouraging employees to waive the health plan, which could risk an ERISA violation. Obsidian I.T. offers 10% less payment contribution for those who opt-out, see example below.
Example: We offer up to $500/mo. towards our health insurance plan for employees, and if they opt-out would offer a $450/mo. opt-out payment.
Cafeteria Plan – Flexible Spending Arrangement (FSA)
A flexible spending arrangement (FSA) is funded by salary reduction that reimburses employees for expenses incurred for certain qualified benefits. An FSA may be offered for dependent care assistance, adoption assistance, and medical care reimbursements. Generally, eligible benefits under a cafeteria plan are not subject to FICA, FUTA, Medicare tax, or income tax withholding, reducing employee and employer’s payroll taxes.
IRS Regulations
1. Uniform Coverage Rule - applies to FSAs and states an employee’s annual election amount must be made available from the beginning of the plan year. For example, if an employee elects $1,200 for the FSA plan year and has a $1,000 medical claim in the first month, it is required that the employee be paid or reimbursed in full for that expense. The employer will collect the full election amount back from the employee throughout the course of the plan year.
Once a plan election is made for the year, the election is irrevocable unless the employee incurs an IRS-defined qualifying event like marriage, divorce, birth or child adoption, employment status change, etc.
2. Use-it-or-Lose-it-Rule - states the funds an employee elects to set aside must be utilized by the end of the plan year; otherwise, any unused funds are distributed back to the employer. It is often very rare that an employee is not able to spend their full election amount by the end of the plan year, but it is always recommended that employees stay on top of their FSA election amounts to ensure they do not lose what they have set aside. The employer is not taxed on forfeited balances.
Dental and Vision insurance
Currently, we do not offer a dental and vision plan.
Paid Time Off (PTO) policy
You will be eligible for [number] days of paid vacation leave per year. Paid time off is additional to sick days, bank holidays, and days that the company does not operate.
Obsidian IT provides PTO benefits for regular part-time and full-time employees. This PTO bank of time can be used for all personal time off. Accrual begins with the date of hire, and employees can use accrued PTO benefits after 90 continuous days of employment. In accordance with our policy, we will match your existing PTO of two-weeks. After your first, year of employment, your will move up to our three-weeks accrued PTO.

401k Retirement up to 4% matching contribution
A 401k Plan has been established for full-time employees. Participants may elect to have a certain percentage deducted from each paycheck. Please check with your HR department to find out the calendar year maximums.
In addition, the Company will match up to 4% per paycheck up to the maximum determined by our 401k plan and may change on a yearly basis.
Paid Sick Leave (PSL)
- All full-time employees, permanent part-time employees, and temporary employees receive.
- Will accrue 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked.
- Can use up to 40 hours per year.
- Accrual and carryover limits are 80 hours.
- New Hires: 24 hours available by 120th day of employment and 40 hours by their 200th day of employment.
- Employees past their 120th day of employment will receive an additional 16 hours Jan 1st.
- Employees under 120 days will accrue at the new rate.Any employee calling in sick more than three days in a row will need to provide a doctor’s note.
