PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist Kitchen Manager on daily kitchen responsibilities which includes, but is not limited to, cooking, food preparation, stocking food items, cleaning & maintenance.
SCHEDULE: Full time- Monday to Thursday 9:30AM to 6:30PM, Fridays 9AM to 2:30PM.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience of a minimum of 2 years in preparing meals.
- Current sanitation certification from the Chicago Department of Public Health and compliance with
state, local, and regulatory agencies in relation to food service.
- Experience cooking for a large number of people.
- Ability to safely use of all food service equipment.
- Ability to maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards.
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Ability to work both independently and as an active team member.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor while exercising judgment and discretion in work.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, recipes, menus, warning labels, packing slips and supply orders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides nutritious meals to Youth and Staff while complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards as well as department policy and procedure.
- Follow set menus and recipes while also being creative to use food items on hand and minimize waste.
- Organize and stock kitchen and supply room.
- Works cooperatively and professionally with all Agency staff.
- Assist with set-up, service and clean-up of food productions.
- Use, clean and store kitchen equipment properly and following all protocol and procedure.
- Assist with safety and training procedure in handling of food service equipment.
- Complete tasks assigned by Supervisor of Kitchen Operations and Head Chef.
- Cooperate in the scheduled cleaning of specific areas.
- Serve all youth and staff with respect and in timely manner.
- Cooperate with Career Resources team on meeting the needs of the Youth Employees.
