Donor Services Laboratory provides innovative, exceptional laboratory testing to meet the unique testing needs of the tissue and eye bank industry. Donor Services Laboratory (DSL) is CLIA certified, CAP accredited, ISO accredited, and FDA registered for screening human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue - based products (HCR/Ps).
Position Scope:
Under the direction of the manager, the Medical Technologist performs clinical testing in one or more of the following areas: accessioning, serology, molecular, microbiology and point of care.
Job Duties:
The following are essential functions and basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Support of DSL’s mission, vision, and values; adheres to its policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position
- Performs waived, moderate and high complexity testing using manual and automated processed
- Obtains or receives specimens, performs laboratory tests according to written procedures
- Understand the methods and principles of laboratory tests
- Performs and evaluates quality control and steps in troubleshooting for acceptability
- Performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation and interprets results as to their accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits
- Demonstrated knowledge of open and expiration dates and storage of specimens, QC materials, and reagents
- Organizes work to meet established turn-around-times
- Complies with all protocols, SOPs and regulatory requirements
- Completes all proficiency and competency tasks
- Assists manager or supervisor in training new employees
- May be required to work various shifts
Compliance / Safety
- Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely manner
- Monitor work environment for possible safety issues
- Performs work in a safe manner
Qualifications:
The following identifies the education, training and experience required to perform essential functions of the job.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or in one of the chemicals, physical, biological sciences at an accredited college or university
- Completion of three years of academic study with a minimum of 90 semester hours at an accredited college or university in a curriculum involving biological or physical science
- Medical Laboratory Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist, American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent
- Must have Nevada Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or obtain it within 3 months
Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- 3+ years of clinical laboratory experience, highly preferred
- Interest in working as part of a small and growing company, with awareness about the opportunities and challenges that come with a highly adaptive environment
- Ability to retain confidential information
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present a professional image to management, staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Independent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, and Word, and LIMS
General Support:
- Work with the entire DSL team to add support in other areas and assist with other company projects and initiatives, as needed.

Salary for this position is highly competitive and commensurate with experience. DSL offers benefits (including health, disability, and life insurance) and a generous time off policy.
