Office Assistant
The Desert Southwest Conference is excited to announce an open position for an Office Assistant in the District Office. The candidate must have a positive team spirit and work collaboratively with the District Superintendents to meet the needs of the Districts and Conference. The Office Assistant for the District Office is responsible for assisting the District Superintendents of the Desert Southwest Conference of The United Methodist Church by providing administrative support. The administrative duties include but are limited to providing administrative support to the District Administrative Assistant with electronic recordkeeping, mailings, billings, scheduling meetings, and general office duties. This position will be a point of contact for the District Office and will be responsible for directing calls and visitors to the correct individual.
Primary Responsibilities:

Assists in replying to communications and inquiries in a timely and accurate manner, including phone calls and directing inquiries to the appropriate source and preparing correspondence. Assists in the coordination of calendars for the District Superintendents. Schedules meetings and appointments for District Superintends, ensuring to send out meeting notices and reminders as directed.
- Assists with administrative responsibilities of the District Office including making copies, sorting mail, maintaining supplies, filing, meeting support, taking meeting minutes, preparing financial statements, and maintaining office equipment. Send out Birthday cards to clergy in the various districts.
- Assists in maintaining email contact lists and spreadsheets of clergy, churches, and committee by district.
- Assist in preparing and distributing all Charge Conference materials. Ensuring to update all files and preparing updated worksheets for Cabinet.
- Update the Pension and Health Benefits department with the update compensation for clergy.

High School Diploma or GED is required.

At least one year previous experience in an administrative office setting.

Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS SharePoint, MS Lists, Zoom, MS Teams, and Shelby is preferred.

Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of The United Methodist Church and The Book of Discipline is preferred but not required.
Additional Considerations:

Hybrid position, working both remotely and in the Phoenix Conference Office.

Part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week.
- Hourly Rate: $20.35 to $30 an hour (non-exempt).
