Summary:
The Asset Management - Sr. Data Analyst leverages data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making as it relates to maintaining the North Texas Tollway Authority’s roadway infrastructure, facilities, vehicles, and warehouse inventories. The position designs, develops, and prepares reports, dashboards, and analytics to support the infrastructure maintenance budget and associated capital expenditures. They ensure the required data is collected, stored, and maintained to optimize efficiency and quality.
This is a designated Essential Employee position, whose attendance is required to maintain agency operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.
Responsibilities:
· Reviews data for quality; identifies patterns and trends and identifies opportunities for the creation and automation of jobs which makes it easier to find data problems and review the quality of data as needed.
· Responsible for quality assurance and quality control analysis relating to engineering documents and processes.
· Analyzes data to cleanse, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Investigates and resolves system discrepancies and corrects errors. Assists others with resolving discrepancies related to engineering documents, materials, specifications, vehicles, and equipment.
- Designs and creates metrics for improved measurement and reporting.
- Develops and maintains process documentation for all data systems in the asset management portfolio.
- Creates, develops, and analyzes workflow and/or system processes.
- Reviews maintenance records and works with management teams to revise current processes to resolve the identified issue.
- Communicates and collaborates with different work groups to develop problem solving techniques and reports.
- Creates standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure data is available, responsive, and achieves the desired business outcomes and objectives.
· Develops and prepares monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc (including exceptions) reports.
· Creates custom reports utilizing data from multiple sources, including databases, spreadsheets, written reports, and verbal communications.
· Responsible for implementation of multiple end-user dashboards by determining requirements, identifying data sources, and business objectives.
· Maintains end-user dashboards and analyzes data presented and implements needed changes.
· Identifies trends, top drivers, and root causes using varying data analysis techniques, and prepares summary reports.
- Guides and mentors, the Asset Management Data Specialist and any other project specific or temporary personnel.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
· 5 – 7 years’ experience in the field of data analysis, data science, statistics, business analysis, engineering, reports, and dashboards process building or other relevant area.
· Strong analytical skills and judgement; documentation and research skills.
· Technical understanding of data modelling and the ability to write scripts for data reporting.
· Proficiency in Excel (macros, pivot tables, etc.).
· Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and database querying.
· Experience with Asset Management Software and Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS).
· Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) software (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy).
· Knowledge of the principles of statistics.
Preferred:
· Master’s degree
· Experience in asset management principles and condition assessment principles.
· Skilled at creating executive-level and end-user communications and presenting to and interacting with colleagues.
· Python knowledge and experience.
· Advanced experience and knowledge of BI software.
· Advanced experience with MS Excel.
