Position Overview
The transloader is responsible for the safe transload of bulk liquid products from rail-to-truck. This includes hazardous/non-hazardous chemical transloading. Other responsibilities include facility cleanup, housekeeping, and other tasks as assigned.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Facilitate the loading from railcars into tank trucks.
- Railcar inspections
- Equipment & terminal maintenance
- Follow all SOPs and work order instructions to make sure loads are completed correctly and safely without contamination, spill, or other incidents
- Adhering to mandatory PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements
- Read and interpret paperwork accurately
- Communicate work schedules with other departments
- Other duties as assigned (As part of a small local team you will be expected to do the thing that needs to be done within the confines of safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.)
Requirements and Qualifications
- Ability to perform and learn from on-the-job training
- Basic computer skills for training and other required tasks
- Excellent English verbal communication skills are a must
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, email, text, etc.
- Must be able to learn and understand mechanical processes
- Extremely accurate and detail-oriented. Able to learn to read and interpret shipping paperwork and other data, such as chemical names, order numbers, and rail car numbers.
- Able to handle shifting priorities and constantly changing conditions.
- Able to work effectively on flexible and varying work schedules.
- Team player. Able to get along well with coworkers, drivers, and leadership. Able to settle disagreements professionally and productively.
- High energy level and high level of initiative. Takes the lead in making improvements to the operation and in getting things fixed as they break down.
- Safely use basic hand tools.
- Operate autonomously for long periods of time with minimal contact with supervisors.
- Successful work experience demonstrating a strong work ethic
- Must be self-motivated with good critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills. Must be organized.
Physical Requirements
- Work outdoors and tolerate extreme weather conditions such as rain, heat, or cold
- Wear a full chemical suit as required
- Lift and carry heavy hoses, fittings, and other equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Able to crawl underneath and climb on top of railcars, containers, and tank trailers.
- Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as necessary to perform vehicle inspections and load/unload cargo.
- Must successfully complete a pulmonary function test (PFT) and Drug Screen
- Must be willing to be cleanly shaven to wear a respirator when required

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
