Senior Services for South Sound is looking for a Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) Program Manager & Volunteer Coordinator in our Client Services department at Olympia for 20 hours per week who is responsible for volunteer recruitment, coordinating training with OIC and supporting and supervising SHIBA volunteers. What you will be doing:
We’re looking for a SHIBA Program Manager & Volunteer Coordinator working 20 hours a week to oversee all SHIBA contracts with the Office of Insurance Commissioner (OIC) for the Client Services department. They are primarily responsible for overseeing SHIBA contracts and recruiting and managing volunteers.
Key outcomes:
The SHIBA Program Manager & Volunteer Coordinator:
- Manages all aspects of SHIBA volunteer activities including recruiting, training and communication.
- Explains SHIBA training process to volunteers and manages OIC compliance requirements.
- Coordinates in-person and virtual staffing of volunteers to advise clients within the scope of the SHIBA program.
- Oversees all other aspects of SHIBA program including contracts, budgeting, and referrals.
- Compiles quarterly reports to OIC, reports monthly metrics to HR, Volunteer manager, and Finance director.
- Maintains all program records, OIC client database entries, and communicates accurate information to OIC.
- Speaks publicly at community outreach events and participates in twice monthly meetings with OIC regional training consultant and any other check-ins, events, training as mandated by OIC.
What you will bring:
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- Once hired, must meet OIC requirements for SHIBA volunteer coordinator role.
- Associates degree.
- 1 year experience managing staff or volunteers and working with spreadsheets, data entry, email communication.
- Some health insurance experience.
- KSAs: Working with frail or disabled elderly, ability to function as a team member, communicate well both orally and in writing, and manage a team of volunteers.
Preferred:
Applicants who also possess the following may receive additional consideration from the hiring manager:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3 or more years of experience managing staff or volunteers.
- Knowledge of Medicare.
