TGC is seeking a full-time traveling chef specializing in Asian cuisine who can help support and sustain our sushi and Asian food operations. As a traveling support chef, you will be traveling to multiple retail locations across the state of Texas to support and train our sub-processors according to company Standard Operating Procedures. This role will also be involved in every step of the product development process at our main office, from ideation to getting the products on retail shelves. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional cooking skills and the ability to adapt to diverse kitchen environments. Traveling Support Chef
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
● Travel to various store locations regionally or nationally, depending on business needs
● Assist with new store openings, Asian grill training and/or sub-processor switch outs
● Follow our current standard operating procedure to maintain consistency across different locations
● Set a good example on operations and demonstrate good food safety practice during training such as food preparation, HACCP and sanitation
● Communicate with department leadership on the progress of new sub-processor training and able to provide the verbal and written feedback
● Identify areas of opportunity and assist in developing action plan to improve the overall training process
● Assist with any new or ongoing projects within the Research and Development department
● Actively participating in the product development process
● Open to accepting feedback regarding changes of new and existing menu per requests from clients, team members and sub-processors
● Assist with evaluation on ingredients and samples
● Manage inventory of food samples
● Coordinate with the R&D team to fulfill sample requests
● Collaborate with the catering department to plan and execute culinary activities and events
● Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency in food preparation
● Must be flexible, organized and able to independently manage tasks
● Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in culinary arts
● Other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications:
● 3-4 years of kitchen experience, preferably in sushi or Asian food setting
● Associate’s degree in culinary, hospitality management or related field preferred, but not required
● Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required
● Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively train and support kitchen staff
● Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.)
● Ability to work independently and under pressure, with a flexible schedule to accommodate travel requirements
● Work schedule may include evenings and weekends
● Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time in a fast-paced environment
● 80% of travel
