Summary:
The role of Engineering Technician at BUNN is to support the design, development and improvement of new or existing products with complex electromechanical systems through leading prototype builds, testing, data collection and troubleshooting. This position involves working with cross-functional development teams to address quality issues, execute new product development projects, implement value improvement and support existing products.
Essential Job Functions:
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex technical issues related to components, equipment and systems
- Design and build fixtures or special test equipment to support development testing and/or production
- Set up and use electronic test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters and dataloggers to record and compile data
- Conduct prototype testing and record test data and results
- Brainstorm creative solutions to complex technical challenges on new and existing products
- Prepare sketches and/or drawings for prototyping
- Develop prototype build plans and lead construction of prototypes
- Assist engineers with designing test plans using scientific methods
- Assist engineer with data analysis and reports
- Create and maintain test documentation and procedures
- Create and verify bill of materials and parts list with team members
- Promote effective cross-functional teamwork by collaborating with other roles such as manufacturing, purchasing, quality, service, agency, documentation, software, hardware and technical publications.
- Follow and support the new product development process including participation in requirements workshops, design reviews and FMEAs.
- Assist and train other functional areas such as production assembly, quality and service as required.
- Support existing products through continuous improvement, quality issue resolution and value improvement.
- Participate in competitor equipment analysis
- Maintain lab and work area following 5S practices
- Other duties as assigned
Qualitifications:
- 2+ years technician experience or 2+ years technical/vocational education in engineering, electronics or related area; or Technical Certification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Technical knowledge and understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles and concepts.
- Adept in troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using a variety of tools and lab equipment used in engineering and technical tasks.
- Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, robotic, hydraulic and thermodynamic systems, components such as pumps, circuit boards, motors, valves, electrical controls, sensors, heaters, power supplies, PLC programming, soldering, electrical schematics and diagrams, wire harness design, analyzing mechanical prints & tolerances.
- Quality workmanship and attention to detail.
- Organizational and time-management skills to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to work in a team environment demonstrating agility in a dynamic work setting.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office software
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physical tasks as required.
