Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a motivated Senior Systems Administrator to join our team of technical and business experts providing operational and mission support to a SI/SETA mission for a classified customer in Virginia.
The Senior Systems Administrator will support across multiple IT systems, which require timely patch management, updates, and accreditation and authorization - whether for the first time or renewals.
Our unique team of technical and business disciplines provide operational support for Systems Engineering/Integration, Mission Planning, and Business Operations to multiple functional mission areas. The team is responsible for technical design, operations, and mission planning and business operations for the full life cycle of customer specific operations (from concept through development and installation/O&M).
The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
- Provides feedback to design engineers and evaluates end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
- Ensures products and systems comply with requirements and government information assurance and cyber security standards and practices through formal verification methods.
- Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance.
- Responsible for keeping systems in line with security plans and recommending revisions to the plan, maintaining accounts and permissions, reviewing audit logs, addressing user concerns about system usability, general maintenance of existing systems.
- Responsible for installing & maintaining Linux Red Hat (CentOS) servers and workstations.
- Responsible for installing & maintaining Windows servers and workstations per project requirements and NIST/Industrial Baseline Configuration guidelines.
- Responsible for communicating technical information to individuals who may not have a technical background. This will require good oral skills and patience.
- Responsible for analysis of audit logs and application logs.
- Responsible for collaboration with ISSM Staff and other Cyber Security personnel to manage ongoing issues and accreditations.
- Responsible for software management, laptop compliance, patch management, and continuous monitoring/scanning.
- Responsible for analysis of scanning results for evidence of security vulnerabilities or threats.
- Perform Nessus network scans and compliance checks for system security configuration guidelines or best practice.
**This role requires the candidate to perform duties on-site Mon-Fri.**
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI with a current Polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering , Computer Science, Cyber Security/Information Security, Electrical Engineering; Information Systems, Network Engineering, or other STEM related field and 12 years of relevant experience; Master's degree and 10 years of relevant experience; PhD and seven (7) years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience as a Systems Administrator in the Intelligence Community.
- Able to build systems, install operating systems, patch, configure, and interface with other mission-partner organizations.
- Experience analyzing audit logs and application logs.
- Previous performing Nessus network scans and compliance checks for system security configuration guidelines or best practice.
- Experience with data and communications networking.
- Previous experience working with Linux OS including experience installing & maintaining Linux Red Hat (CentOS) servers and workstations.
- Experience providing cyber support across the group.
- Working knowledge of digital communications and related IT communications technologies.
- Direct project management experience with patch management, continuous monitoring, and vulnerability scanning/remediation activities - this includes devising or implementing a continuous monitoring plan across multiple security domains and familiarity with tools used in compliance and vulnerability assessments.
- Good time management skills: ability to support multiple projects; ability to multitask and manage.
- Must be a team player and possess the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team as well as work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly ramp up to support customer's needs, clearly communicate (orally and written) ideas, take initiative to provide creative solutions to challenges and/or systemic problems.
- Previous experience with the Intelligence Community.
- Proactive and forward-leaning.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud environments and designing systems to work the cloud.
- AWS experience.
- System Administrator Security Course (SASC).
- Data Transfer Officer (DTO).
- Experience with the tools used to maintain security compliance records and status (e.g., Splunk, XACTA).
- Splunk Certified Administrator.
Salary Range Estimates:
The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees. Target Salary Range
$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
