Job Overview:
Demonstrate exceptional teacher leadership:
- Directly coach a caseload of teachers to further develop their instructional skills to engage 100% of scholars
- Progress monitors students who need the most academic support.
- Lead Literacy and Math Intervention
- Observe lessons regularly and deliver targeted feedback to teachers
- Coach teachers on leveraging blended learning practices to build scholars’ technology literacy, maximize instructional time, and personalize learning
Lead outstanding professional development:
- Collaborate with grade and/or subject teams to launch units, plan lessons and assessments
- Collaborate with grade and/or subject teams to lead team meetings to dive deep on curriculum, student work, and lesson planning
- Coordinate, manage, and facilitate innovative, motivating staff trainings and professional development sessions
- Facilitate regular data meetings with teachers to troubleshoot challenges and make decisions based on scholar achievement
Serve as an active member of the school leadership team:
- Participate in weekly leadership team meetings
- Collaborate with Deans across the Libertas team to build upon and refine current curriculum
- Assist grade chairs and other teacher leaders in developing leadership skills
Do whatever it takes to ensure that the mission of the school is fulfilled
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
Preferred skills and work experience:
- Have a minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in an urban school setting as a teacher
- Three years or more of exceptional student growth/achievement results as a teacher
- Experience teaching upper level and/or Advanced Placement Humanities courses, preferred
- Track record of establishing and maintaining a positive and respectful classroom environment
- Experience as a teacher leader, mentor, or coach
- Strong belief that all students can succeed
- Demonstrates persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles to goal achievement ∙ Demonstrates a drive, commitment and sense of urgency that inspires others to
- achieve results
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of instructional strategies for students with autism, developmental delay, specific learning disabilities, and behavior disorders
- Demonstrate strong skills in partnering with families
- Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction ∙ Strong organizational skills
- Critical thinker and problem-solver
- Collaborative team player
- Spanish fluency highly desirable
