· Represents the policies, ethics, and culture of the company.

· Required: Meet the Clia ‘88 requirements for specimen grossing which may require either:
(1) having earned an associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or;
(2) having earned at least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, include either (a) 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or (b) 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
· Works independently to perform human specimen transfer gross examination for diagnosis and patient treatment and describes gross anatomic features into the LIS system.
· Have working knowledge of equipment related to grossing; how to use and troubleshoot.
· Routine handling of biohazard/chemical hazardous material and waste.
· Specimen Triage: receive specimens; verify proper identifiers on all requisition forms and specimen containers. Accurately enter patient demographics/ registration information and laboratory test orders into laboratory information systems (LIS).
· Specimen Prep: procurement and preparation of laboratory specimens for processing in the Histology and Cytology laboratories.
· Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
· Exceptional level of attention to detail.
· Answering phones: able to handle patient and client services and requests.
· Insurance Verification: will verify insurance on all cases for billing.
· Clerical duties: performs clerical duties associated with the Histology and Cytology laboratory.
· QA/QC Maintenance: helps to maintain laboratory quality control and quality assurance logs.
· Maintain a clean and well-organized work area and equipment.
· Be available to the Pathologist, Grossing Technicians 1 and 2, Histology Technicians, Laboratory Technicians, and Laboratory Aides for troubleshooting issues stemming from grossing.
