Sourcing and Procurement:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of chemicals and related products.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Place purchase orders for chemicals and related products based on inventory levels and demand forecasts.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns that arise.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of chemicals and related products to ensure adequate stock.
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory.
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to reconcile physical stock with records.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply of chemicals.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers to stay updated on market trends, pricing, and product availability.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines related to the procurement and handling of chemicals.
- Maintain accurate records of all purchases and related documentation for compliance purposes.
- Coordinate with internal departments, such as Environmental Health and Safety, to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal departments, such as R&D and Production, to understand their chemical needs and specifications.
- Coordinate with these departments to develop procurement plans that meet their requirements.
- Provide support and guidance to internal stakeholders on chemical procurement matters.
- Work closely with the Receiving team to ensure accurate and timely receipt of purchased items.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for process improvement within the procurement function.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall procurement performance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in chemical procurement.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and contracts.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement performance, including cost savings achieved, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
- Present these reports to management to inform decision-making.
- Training and Development:
- Stay updated on industry developments and best practices in chemical procurement.
- Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to enhance the overall competency of the procurement team.
- Participate in training and development activities to improve skills and knowledge in procurement.
Skills and Abilities Required:

Experience in chemical procurement or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of chemical products, suppliers, and market trends.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in purchasing software, MS Office Suite, and other relevant applications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
