Summary/Objective
The Hotline/Intake Specialist provides a client-centered and trauma informed approach to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors seeking services from Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center. The Hotline/Intake Specialist will be responsible for conducting telephonic and in person intakes for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault seeking shelter and will support approved shelter clients during their transition into the residential services program. This position involves both on-call and in-office responsibilities.
Essential functions

- Provide immediate crisis intervention, needs assessment, and safety planning with all survivors who access HLFCC services.
- Responds to domestic violence and sexual assault crisis hotline calls during scheduled shift. Provides crisis intervention, safety planning, counseling and information and referral to clients.
- Completes intake documentation for victims of domestic and sexual violence who call the emergency hotlines.
- Screens clients requesting shelter for appropriateness. If client is appropriate for shelter the Hotline/Intake Specialist arranges shelter intake. If space is unavailable at HLFCC, provides information and referrals to other resources and programs that may be able to assist.
- Provides client intake, shelter orientation, and introduction to agency staff and protocols.
- Facilitates and smooth transition into shelter life, including the logging of client concerns.
- Communicate effectively with other members of the HLFCC team in order to ensure the most up-to-date information and appropriate follow-up for clients.
- Participate in training as recommended by supervisor.
- Attend supervision, program, and agency staff meetings as assigned.
- Enters case notes, relevant documentation and services into the client databases in a timely manner (within 24 hours when possible).
Required Education, Experience and Competencies
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to be proactive in advocating for victim-survivor clients.
- Use crisis intervention techniques that promote client empowerment and self-determination.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to function as a part of a team and work in collaboration with outside agencies.
- Ability to provide culturally competent services and work with diverse staff and clientele in an empathetic and non-judgmental manner.
- Strong organizational and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with community-based services in Burnet, Blanco, Llano and Lampasas counties.
