Litigation & Organizing Manager
(Full-time, Exempt)

General Description: The Litigation & Organizing Manager will generally assist with the following: representation of organized housing committees, assist in community housing presentations, court hearings and possibly trials, organize and manage client/committee files, research and assist in the coordination of resources for projects and community events, support in the creation of community presentations, assist and support completion of grant reporting and fund development to support farmworkers and low-income families in Monterey and Santa Counties in collaboration with CCA’s Lead Organizers, administrative team, and the Executive Director.
Job Duties:
- Established understanding of litigation laws, particularly unlawful detainer and consumer law, as they relate to individuals and partnerships.
- Proficiency with rules for court document filings.
- Comprehension of a variety of legal court documents, including complaints, answers, rulings, judgments, affidavits, motions, appeals, table of contents/authorities, subpoenas, court dockets, reports, memos, and correspondence.
- Strong ability to maintain high ethical standards, use good judgment and seek out ways to contribute and anticipate needs of committees and community members.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage time effectively and efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate well in a team.
- Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Some filing is required, and this would entail the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk from workstation to desk or to go to various offices to retrieve assignments. This position may also be sedentary and require the employee to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ensure the collection of all client information for Housing committees.
- Provides support for all organizing efforts and campaigns of the Lead Organizers.
- In collaboration with the Lead Organizers support in the research and creation of educational presentations and curriculum for CCA’s three programs - Health, Housing, and Youth for Change.
- Support the Lead Housing Organizer to plan, organize, and strategize the completion of all grant deliverables to maximize housing committees and other community outreach and engagement, including the completion of evaluation tools to assess efficacy and impact of projects.
- Support the coordination of meetings and events including locating suitable sites for community meetings and events.
- Collaborate and support the Executive Director and Development & Administrative Manager in developing and writing grant proposals, reports, and external communications to assure adequate funding for all CCA programs and projects in the community.
- Collaborate with the Reports & Communication Manager for reporting on grants as well as for social media postings and other communications to ensure the communication of relevant and interesting content.
- Support and assist the nonprofit in any tasks that further its mission and vision.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Juris Doctorate degree with a current CA State Bar License in good standing.
- Valid CA Driver License
- 1+ years of litigation experience, trial experience preferred.
- Must be able to independently drive on the highways, freeways, and country roads. Excellent legal writing and reporting capacities.
· Excellent legal research skills.
· Enthusiastic to work with a team and community members.
· Ability to handle multiple projects and work independently, as well as with others, in a collaborative, often fast-paced, team environment.
· Organized and detail-oriented, with an ability to ask for support when needed.
· Technological skills, including experience with Google Office, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Donorsnap, and GrantHub database.
· Ability to work flexible hours, late evenings, and weekends with advance notice.
· Ability to responsibly manage own schedule with little oversite or direction.
· Ability to travel to events and meetings in areas where CCA is currently working with community and partners.
· Ability to prioritize and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and deadlines.

Compensation Salary and Benefits: The salary is $72,100.00 plus a very competitive benefit package including medical, dental, and vision benefits, student loan reimbursement, pension program, vacation, holiday, and sick pay.
