_ Lead DAS (Distributed Antenna System) Installer _
A Lead DAS Installer is experienced in leading installation crews for the entire duration of large scale “in-building distributed antenna systems” projects. This person is a leader capable of managing, training, and mentoring a crew of 3-5 people while on site.
Job Requirements:
The Lead DAS Installer is a hands-on role that will work closely with the Project Manager and Installation Technicians. The duties will include, but not limited to:
· Read and interprets design drawings, blueprints, and installation guides.
· Installing DAS wireless equipment. To include but not limited to the installation of Outdoor and Indoor antennas, coaxial cable, CATV cable, fiber optic cable, CAT 5 cable, CAT 6 cable, DC Power Cable and other appropriate components to NEC standards.
· Terminating coaxial cable: JMA, Andrews, Trilogy, etc.
· Fusion Splicing and Fiber OTDR Testing.
· Configure and integrate DAS Head End equipment such as Rectifiers, Battery Systems, VoltServer, Commscope iON-B and iON-U, JMA Teko, and Corning Mobile Access, along with relevant monitoring components such as T1 and Broad Band Backhaul circuits, Routers, IP Switches, and Dry Contact Alarm Monitoring equipment.
· Expert at completing Sweep, PIM, and Fiber testing. (Anritsu and EXFO Certifications a PLUS).
· Keeping customer and company informed of progress of installation. Communicating and coordinating with customer and company related to specific safety, local code and company installation requirements.
· Assisting in proposal development and project preparation activities.
· Completing site surveys to troubleshoot and design corrective RF and RF/fiber optic installations for existing systems with inadequate coverage. Report findings to the appropriate staff.
· Assist with development of project schedules and materials/subcontractor selections.
· Accurately reports status, material usage, and expenses.
· Mentoring and leading less experienced technicians.
· Updates customer prints, documentation, and facilitates document storage.
· Assisting in warehouse maintenance and inventory.
Minimum Requirements:
The Lead DAS Installer is responsible for executing DAS Installation and Head End upgrade projects. Qualified candidates:
· MUST HAVE a minimum of 5 years of in-building DAS installation experience. Five years of cable installation experience in IT, Cable, Electrical, RF and/or Telecommunications fields.
· Must have high level of understanding and experience performing fusion splicing, fiber terminations, fiber dressing, fiber cleaning and OTDR Testing.
· Corning and EXFO Certifications a plus.
· Must have high level of understanding and experience performing RF Sweep and PIM Measurements.
· Solid understanding of wireless networks, including modulation techniques (UTMS, GSM, LTE plus etc.), amplifier/antenna/cable theory, link budgets, propagation tools, etc.)
· Knowledge of the terminology used in the in-building DAS industry.
· Working knowledge of RF test equipment (i.e. spectrum analyzer, sweep and PIM test equipment) Certifications a PLUS
· Demonstrated ability to use basic hand and power tools needed for installation projects.
· Experience as a Field Supervisor or Field Supervisor and coaching less experienced technicians while managing projects.
· Solid skills with Microsoft Office Software (particularly Excel).
In addition, qualified Candidates will have the ability to:
· Travel to project locations nationwide.
· Work nights as required
· Must have a valid driver’s license
· Pass a criminal background check, drug screening and a pre-employment physical.
· Lift upwards of 80 lbs. unassisted.
· Repeatedly ascend and descend ladders ranging in height from 6ft to 14ft
· Be able to work in attic-type space, drop ceiling, and other spaces safely, without falling through the ceiling.
· Experienced with pulling and handling cable without damaging it.
· Walk continuously throughout the job site while carrying ladders, tools and installation materials.
· Work indoor/outdoor with variable conditions. (-20/120)
· Must provide basic hand tools.
· Demonstrate ability to work in a professional manner at all job sites.
· Deliver customer service, use great communication skills, and demonstrate ability to work well on a team.
· Think analytically and to solve complex problems.
· Drive performance and execute against plan.
· Demonstrate ability to complete installations independently as projects require, while working with a sense of urgency.
Preferred Certifications
If the candidate does not have any of the following certifications, they must have the ability to become certified within a year of being hired, if required. Company will pay for training.
