Join our awesome team at PAWSH at Park Place as Animal Transport and Adoption Counselor for an exciting 6-month, Part Time adventure! Work with assigned shelter staff to choose animals for transport to and from Pawsh Park Place to facilitate daily adoptions; ensure proper procedures are followed for the safety and humane handling of all animals being transported; promote the purpose of the Humane Society of Southern Arizona; fill in as an Adoption Counselor at Pawsh Park Place; provide an additional avenue to educate the public about responsible pet ownership and shed light on pet overpopulation and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals. Perform retail sales of merchandise at the Pawsh Park Place location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represent the Humane Society of Southern Arizona Society of Southern Arizona in a professional, polite and enthusiastic manner.
- Load animals from the Shelter in transport vehicles and take them to and from Pawsh Park Place.
- Verify paperwork to transfer with animals, including, but not limited to; current vaccines, complete medical information, and post-surgery supplies.
- Gather needed supplies to transport to Pawsh Park Place.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the transport vehicle and the kennels used for transport.
- Follow all policies regarding vehicle use and accident reporting procedures.
- Follow the procedures outlined in the PAWSH SOP Manual.
- Maintain cooperative, reciprocal relationships with all shelter personnel.
- Match and evaluate adopters with shelter pets.
- Greet, escort and provide accurate information to potential adopters and retrieve animals from kennels for visitation.
- Provide enrichment to animals as directed by Supervisors.
- Perform customer service to the standards set forth in HSSA’s employee manual.
- Drive company vehicle in performance of company business.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: Work is performed at Pawsh Park Place. Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases, dangerous and fractious animals, high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, and sharp objects. Able to lift up to 50 lb., long periods of standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and animal handling and restraint in an animal shelter setting. Potential exposure of infectious diseases to owned animals. Able to handle all sizes and activity levels of animals.

- Attendance and Dependability: The Transport Technician can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work and can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious about assignments.
- Relationships with Others: The Transport Technician works effectively and relates well with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of HSSA and exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.

Qualifications and Education:
- High School Graduate and customer service experience with retail sales experience.
- 1 to 2 years of retail experience preferred.
- Possession of a valid Arizona driver’s license and driving record acceptable to HSSA insurance carrier.
- Must be 21 yrs. + for driving position.
- Any combination of training and experience which demonstrates expertise and the knowledge and skills necessary for this position.
