We are currently seeking a highly organized and customer service-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team at the San Francisco office. As part of the care team, you will perform a variety of functions such as greeting patients, patient registration, insurance coverage and eligibility verification, scheduling and telephone management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets and registers new patients and updates existing patient accounts in a courteous and professional manner in accordance with performance standards. Identifies accepted insurance plans and those requiring referrals.
- Handles any system red flags as they are encountered.
- Determines if patient has a co-payment or deposit; accepts and records receipt of payment; provides applicable waiver and obtains appropriate signature; and, when appropriate, scans copy of patient’s photo ID, insurance card and/or waiver.
- Schedules new or follow-up appointments in a courteous and professional manner in accordance with performance standards.
- Responds to requests from patients, family members, physicians and staff in a courteous and professional manner in accordance with performance standards.
- Electronic Health Record Documentation
- Accesses EHR to communicate to clinical staff members and/or physicians
- Manages EHR in-basket(s), work queues and schedule templates as assigned in accordance with performance standards.
- Cashiering and Cash Handling
- All other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.
- Adheres to safety, HIPAA and compliance policies.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year of customer service experience in a medical office, insurance, call center or client services environment.
- Experience with scheduling appointments
- Must be flexible and have the ability to multi task.
- Proficient in computers using MS Office applications and with and EHR (preferably Epic)
- Ability to collaborate across departments and build effective relationships with internal and external customers to achieve goals.
- Possession of strong problem solving skills and sound judgment.
- Possession of strong organizational skills.
- Strong verbal/written communication and listening skills; including excellent interpersonal skills and telephone communication.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
- Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Work is performed in a clinic and office setting. Ability to accurately type, write, and use general office equipment is necessary. Extensive telephone communication is required.
