Job Description:
As a Diesel Mechanic at Western Motorcoach, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational excellence of our fleet through hands-on maintenance and repair of diesel engines. Key responsibilities include:
Position performs diagnostic and repair work, including scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to diesel engines, motor-coaches and minibuses/DOT-regulated vehicles, and other fleet vehicles. Position works with a high degree of independence. Position also requires a number of physical movements including lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, and manipulating and handling objects. This position requires that you have your own basic hand tools; diagnostic, ergonomic, and high-tech equipment will be provided. Due to the scope and variety of Western Motorcoach's fleet, our department includes a variety of positions and job opportunities, ranging from entry-level to master technicians; 3-5 years of relevant work experience are required for this experienced-level position.
Mechanic Responsibilities, Duties & Qualifications
- Mechanic must be able to work independently
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, including but not limited to routine maintenance, engine overhauls, and transmission repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and reliability of our motorcoach fleet.
- Conduct thorough inspections and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members to address complex repairs and ensure the timely return of vehicles to service.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work using our maintenance tracking systems.
- Comply with safety and environmental regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Emergency and road failure repairs, and general maintenance on electrical, HVAC, brake and accessory systems.
- Wheelchair lift experience is helpful
- Mechanics must own basic hand tools
- Understanding of diesel engines, tires, air brake systems, HVAC systems, and electrical systems, and be able to perform necessary preventative maintenance and repair in all aspects.
- Document all work completed and parts used
Mechanic Requirements
- Mechanic must have at least 2 years' experience or technical training work on buses and diesel-powered vehicles
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
- ASE Certified is Preferred
- Must have a valid Driver's License

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour

Experience:
- Diesel Engine, Truck & Heavy Equipment Mechanics: 2 years (Preferred)
