Duties:
1. Responsible for the development, organization and operation of residential care services and assistance-in-living services for the Residential Services Agency Program.
2. Responsible for the coordination and direction of the total planning for Residential Services Agency residential care services including recommendation through a staffing plan of the number and levels of licensed nurses and certified nurses’ aides to be employed.
3. Serves as the AL’s Delegating and Infection Control Nurse.
4. Maintains clinical skills through nursing education related to geriatrics.
5. Establishes procedures to ensure that RSA personnel have valid and current licenses as required by federal and state regulations.
6. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
7. Develops and maintains written nursing standards of practice for the Residential Services Agency Program to be ratified by the governing body. Such standards shall include, but not be limited to, defining routine care to be provided by licensed nurses and certified nurses’ assistants and determination of when more care is needed.
8. Develops and maintains Residential Services Agency service policies and procedures to implement the standards of care. This shall include the coordination and integration of nursing services with other resident care services.
9. Ability to communicate effectively with residents and staff. Must use prudent judgment and work well under pressure. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work well independently.
10. Coordinates and facilitates applicants for Independent Living admission through the pre move in clinical process. Communicates recommendations with applicants timely.
11. Must have a commitment to excellence in resident care and have a strong rehabilitative/restorative nursing orientation
12. Maintains Standard Precautions and as applicable other transmission-based precautions in keeping with CDC Guidelines.
13. Prepares and maintains required reports, records, studies, and surveys (payroll, Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, etc.).
14. Complete evaluations of Residential Services Agency staff.
15. Maintains accurate documentation of medication administered and care rendered.
16. Supervises, coordinates, and discipline caregivers for the independent living resident population.
17. Develops and maintains Employee Health program, to include vaccination programs, in accordance with policies and regulatory guidance.
18. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned; completes Relias training on time every month.
19. Provides clinical on call support as needed.
```Qualifications```
- Must possess basic math skills and the ability to communicate effectively using various means; the ability to understand measurements and conversions is required.
- RN licensed by the State of Maryland (current).
- Two years’ experience in geriatric nursing. Participation in professional organizations, dealing primarily in geriatrics preferred. Minimum of two years in a long-term care setting.
