Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Computer proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn manufacturer specific software used in diagnosing
- Able to work overtime and on call as required
- Have a combination of training and/or experience totaling at least 1 year. Such training and/or experience may consist of:
- Participation in a truck manufacturer-sponsored training program or similar
- commercial training program designed to train students in truck operation and maintenance.
- Experience as a mechanic or inspector in a motor carrier maintenance program.
- Experience as a mechanic or inspector in truck maintenance at a commercial garage, fleet leasing company, or similar facility.
- Experience as a commercial vehicle inspector for a State, Provincial, or Federal Government.
- Understand and use various diagnostic and calibration equipment (i.e., Fluke, pressure gauges, meter prover, etc.).
- Read and maintain schematic wiring diagrams for tractor PTO, potentiometer systems, etc.
- Maintain full compliance with trucking bulletins and alerts.
- Understand and troubleshoot cryo pump systems including seal replacements and pump rebuilds.
- Understand trailer components and operations (i.e. hoses, piping, safeties, valves, and check valves, etc.).
- Understand and troubleshoot PTO interlock systems and anti-pull away valves.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Vehicle Mechanic at our Kansas City, MO facility. The Vehicle Mechanic must demonstrate initiative in handling issues, be self-motivated, dependable, and work within a team environment. This role will report to the Distribution Superintendent.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Safely diagnose, repair, and maintain all components on tractors and tanker trailers.
- Must be able to use manufacturer manuals to perform maintenance and/or repairs to fleet vehicles.
- Maintain parts inventory to include tires, fuel, and oil/ lubricants.
- Perform road calls to help keep trucks moving to customers.
- Maintain fleet appearance by repairing and re-fabricating body parts.
- Must be able to do detailed preventive maintenance on all rolling equipment.
- Be able to communicate with vendors to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Input corrective maintenance, warranty, and PM work orders and track through maintenance systems.
- Follow SMP/SOPs within Fleet Operations Manual
