Industrial Air Flow Dynamics, Inc., the leading provider of HRSG Inspections and Analysis sold to power plants, is seeking an Inspection Engineer for immediate hire. The ideal candidate will join an expanding team, reporting directly to the Vice President of HRSG Engineering. In this role, the applicant will be tasked with visiting power plants located throughout the USA, conducting internal and external inspections of the HRSG, creating documentation packages of their discoveries, and reporting this information to our clients to offer recommendations. This position is remote and will require the successful applicant to work from home as well as travel extensively to meet company/client demands. While travel requirements may vary during the year, the heaviest travel has historically been between February and May and between September and November.
To be successful in this role, the best candidate will be able to:
- Travel to plants and execute inspections on power plant HRSGs and other types of boilers
- Learn the IAFD documentation package and create well written and informative reports for clients
- Interact with the clients after inspections to connect, deliver recommendations, and support their outage needs
- Physically work (standing, stooping, crawling, climbing stairs) up to 10 hours per day performing inspections. Must be able to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights
- Communicate successfully with both the clients and the HRSG Engineering and Inspection group
- Obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card)
- Comply with and pass on-going drug testing and background requirements
Additionally, the potential employee will have:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Chemical Engineering
- 2-5 years of Combined Cycle Power engineering experience.
- Excellent computer skills
Exceptional candidates will also have:
- HRSG OEM design experience
- Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
- Autocad, Solidworks and/or Pipe Stress Analysis software experience
- Technical proficiency in one or more of the following fields: finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, mechanics of materials, metallurgy, materials engineering, failure analysis, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structural engineering, high energy piping design or plant operations
