The primary responsibility of the Café Team Member is to perform the following tasks: take orders; prepare menu items including soups, salads, sandwiches, and drinks while providing excellent customer service.
Cooks food and prepares drinks according to menus and recipes
- Understand and adhere to all recipes.
- Remain alert to all team members and helps team out when needed.
- Consult daily menus and prep sheets to determine which food will be cooked for the day.
- Use all kitchen equipment appropriately.
Organizes food preparation
- Ensure that food and drinks are ready at the proper time and temperature.
- Organize food and drinks to be served.
Follows Food Code standards for preparing, handling, serving and storing food
- Check and record temperatures of food to ensure that it is served at correct temperatures.
- Cool food according to the Kansas Food Code.
- Prepare, cook and store food under appropriate temperatures and with safe food handling techniques.
- Cook food and prepare drinks in a manner to conserve nutritive value, flavor, appearance and texture.
Uses food and supplies appropriately to maintain budget
- Understand and follow food portion controls.
- Avoid wasting food or supplies
- Clean in assigned areas.
- Keep all kitchen equipment clean and in good working order.
Cleans and sanitizes food preparation areas
- Help wash dishes and put them away.
- Complete cleaning schedules.
- Use good sanitation practices.
