We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team! The Diesel Mechanic performs preventive maintenance on engines and hydraulic systems for on and off road mobile equipment (including vehicles such as trucks and trailers) and maintains stationary equipment. Diesel mechanic: inspect, repair and overhaul trucks, and any vehicle with a diesel or gas engine. Bulldozers, loaders, skid steers and dump trucks are just some of the vehicles commonly work on.
Mechanic must possess in-depth knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, engines and all of their working parts. Strong analytical skills, familiarity with technology and the ability to think on their feet. On any given day, you may complete a variety of tasks, from performing basic maintenance.
Diesel Mechanic duties and responsibilities
- Repairing or replacing engines and transmissions
- Repairing or replacing steering and braking systems
- Maintain and track maintenance on trucks and equipment such as, oil changes, filter changes, etc.
- Testing vehicles to determine vehicle condition
- Running diagnostic tests
- Analyzing test results
- Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles
- Maintaining a record of parts inventory
- Keeping the shop tidy and organized
- Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
General Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license
- The ability to solve problems and comfort using tools
- The ability to work well as part of a team and outside
- Basic computer skills
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Willingness to work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, background screening, and the ability to pass a drug screen.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 50 – 60 per week
