The Sexton business fits within the ITW Drawform Division and is a market leader in the manufacture of high-pressure aerosol cans and after-market filter shells and is seeking an Automation Technician.
Job Description
- Implement automation improvements throughout the plant including current automation.
- Provide technical expertise to Machine Safety and Guarding projects.
- Provide electrical support through troubleshooting and upgrading of manufacturing equipment.
- Assist in the installation of robotics and controls to automate production equipment.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of PC’s and PLCs with their various software systems, i.e. Ladder Logic, NC Software, QBasic and Network Protocols.
- Complete other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
- 2-year technical degree in electrical technology or equivalent is required.
- At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in a Maintenance/Automation Technician role preferred.
- Fanuc Robotics Installation and Programming is preferred
- SolidWorks or AutoCAD experience highly desirable.
- Must be able to give examples of relevant projects and/or work completed.
- Working knowledge of PLCs and PLC programming (Allen Bradley is preferred).
- Experience in panel building and sizing is desired.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems within a manufacturing environment.
- Possess a deep understanding of Ethernet communication, Control Logic and Programmable Logic Control (PLC).
- Demonstrate knowledge concerning general safety protocol and procedures regarding field operations.
- Experience with Robotic programming.
- Demonstrate knowledge concerning general safety protocol and procedures regarding field operations.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (equipment suppliers, outside engineers) to support project development activities.
- Ability to work independently, manage projects and complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Self-starter; works with minimal supervision; capable of offering up and making decisions.
- Effective oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Team-player with aptitude to learn the ITW culture and work within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain keen vision and mental awareness while practicing careful attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate with team members to support troubleshooting, problem solving, root cause analysis, and related process improvement activities.
