Position Summary:
As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our firm. You will prepare and review individual and business tax returns, conduct tax planning and projections, perform accounting functions in both the accrual or cash basis, handle client questions, and respond to IRS and state notices independently. Additionally, you will assist in developing domestic and international accounting staff by providing training and support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review tax returns for Individuals (1040), S-corp (1120S), C-corp (1120), Partnerships (1065), and Not-for-Profits (990)
- Prepare and review Amended individual tax returns (1040X)
- Conduct Tax planning and projections with individual and businesses
- Handle routine client questions and gather necessary information for financials and tax return completion
- Respond independently to IRS notices
- Conduct tax research for unusual situations
- Assist in training and supporting staff on tax and accounting processes
- Manage staff, business organizations and processes
- Make journal entries for month and year-end financial closings including reconciliations, prepaids and accruals.
- Perform complex financial analysis and communicate results to clients
Minimum Qualifications (Education, experience, certifications):
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Accounting
- CPA or CPA Candidate
- At least 4 years’ current tax preparation and accounting experience in a CPA firm
- Experience with Private Companies, High Net-Worth Individuals, and Not-for-Profit entities
- Industry experience in nonprofits, government contractors, professional services, and tech companies
- Expert knowledge of QuickBooks Online, payroll functions, G Suite, and MS 365 (Experience with Proseries, CCH Axcess, Checkpoint, XCM, Unanet, Deltek, Slack, Hubspot and OnPoint PCR is a plus)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and budgets
- Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, and proactive attitude
