Summary
The VP HSE & Carbon is responsible for HSE-related programs implemented across
Archaea that are paramount to the success of the business and the bedrock of our path to premier status in the industry. The entire organization relies on this individual to provide a strong, pragmatic voice in the ongoing quest to reduce and virtually eliminate HSE risks and hazards from our business.
This job has enterprise level impact on bp and Archaea reputational and license to operate in all aspects of material delivery. This position also acts as an advocate/spokesperson to external stakeholders and the broader industry on Archaea performance and attainment of our corporate Aims.
This individual is accountable for HSE leadership, support, and functional guidance for each Business Unit (BU) and Function in Archaea. The role also actively participates in P&O HSE leadership team. The position will report directly to the COO.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Accountable for overall Archaea Health, Safety, and Environment, ensuring successful delivery of a $1B capital activity frame and across 60+ operating locations via a sizeable geographic footprint. Includes PSM plants, pipeline operations, construction, and CCS well execution.

Accountable for regulatory compliance (land/air/water/waste) of entire Archaea operating frame, including operations and D&C activity.

Manage and facilitate Archaea delivery of all strategic corporate sustainability AIMs, including Net-Zero targets, Methane detection/measurement, Just Transition, Water Positivity, and Circularity

Responsible for application and conformance level of Archaea Operating Management System, including Gap Assurance Testing and Performance Improvement Cycles.

Responsible for creating a learning culture through training, investigations, and standards across Archaea. This includes providing insightful actions to the greater Archaea organization based on leading indicators to trap gaps and prevent top line events.

Maintain central connectivity to bp group and bp America to ensure learning transfer, reporting, and alignment with group practices when applicable.

Must excel in process safety and risk assessment techniques, including HAZOP, LOPA, barrier analysis and bp Risk Assessment Tool.

Translate operational knowledge into strategic planning to deliver on corporate ambition and aims. Specifically must have skilled Greenhouse Gas accounting acumen, broad knowledge of sustainability initiatives in the sector, and ability to synthesize complex data into strategic intent.

Education/Training
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) from a four year college or university, preferably a BS in Engineering.
Must have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
Professional certification/accreditation in engineering/science discipline is preferred.
Skills, Experience Required
Deep understanding of operational activities and natural gas treatment required. Proficiency in process safety, Root Cause Failure Analysis, investigation, and personal safety required.
Individual should be highly proficient in onshore US industry practices and ways of working, especially to successfully engage with contractors. Business management skills required to intuit and mitigate pressures between safety and other business metrics.
Must be capable of anticipating changing desires from stakeholders (i.e.
regulatory, shareholders etc.) to position Archaea for longevity.
Must be highly empathic and model Safety Leadership Principles.
Advanced listening skills required and must be willing to be the dissenting voice in a dynamic and fast paced organization to ensure safe execution. Individual must possess acumen around Human Factors to architect key safety systems and derive system level learnings from investigations.
