Financial Planning and Analysis Principal

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is seeking to hire a Financial Planning and Analysis Principal to contribute to agency-wide services related to regional planning and policy projects throughout northeastern Illinois. CMAP is a mission-driven agency serving the 284 municipalities and 7 counties of northeastern Illinois as the region’s comprehensive planning organization.
This position will be housed within CMAP’s Finance and Administration division and reports directly to the Deputy of Finance and Administration. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic team of project management and finance professionals to navigate federal, state, local, and philanthropic funding sources that guide CMAP’s work. Thorough knowledge of and experience with budget and workplan forecasting activities, government procurement processes, contract and grant management, grant reporting and tracking, staff supervision and coaching is required for this exciting management position. Duties and Responsibilities
This position in this agency-wide service aligns to the all core values of the agency as well as the strategic direction by evaluating and allocating federal transportation funds based on data and strategic prioritization and programming, leveraging other sources of federal funding to advance priority projects in focus areas of economy and climate, including economic collaboration, resilience, and mitigation. Specific duties include:

Promote use of project and performance management tools, matrix management framework, strategies that foster innovation and continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making at the agency.

Collaborate with leadership and staff to develop better processes and products.

Complies with and maintains subject matter expertise (SME) level knowledge of internal control and compliance policies and procedures, all applicable laws, and generally accepted financial planning and analysis principles and applies that knowledge to identifying and solving problems.

Directly supervises and supports staff through coaching, counseling, and evaluation to develop skills and knowledge to solve problems and advance priorities.
Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree (in field or related field), 7 years professional experience, master’s degree preferred
Hiring Range for Principal: $99,950 - $127,437
